Role:  Senior 3D Pipeline Developer

Location:  London, England, United Kingdom

 

About the role: 

The role is to develop and support bespoke pipeline processes within a best-in-class CGI production team whose output provides a variety of visual content for omnichannel requirements. The role involves cutting-edge R&D work, particularly in the field of AI and machine learning, to push the boundaries of CGI and content creation capabilities, in addition to an element of render management and render wrangling support. 

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting and working with CGI production teams. They will need the ability to maintain pipeline tools using off the shelf and custom-built tools to identify and streamline efficiencies and help improve quality and productivity.  

The candidate will thrive on keeping up to date with industry trends and emerging tech, working autonomously to identify future tools, processes and opportunities which ensures our production capabilities remain at the forefront of Technology, including CGI and AI, for growing demands.  

It is essential that the candidate brings a passionate and enthusiastic approach to their work. Collaboration will be at the forefront of what they do, working as part of a close team where their contribution and knowledge sharing will be paramount to our success, ensuring our development is never static and constantly pushing the art of what is possible. 

What you will be doing: 

  • Develop tools and scripts using Python for core 3D platforms, including Unreal Engine 5, focusing on pipeline and tool development to enhance artist workflows. 
  • Develop and maintain APIs to integrate AI tools and technologies into our bespoke content creation platform. 
  • Design, Create and maintain CGI production pipeline processes, providing technical support for Stills, Animation, and Interactive content workflows. 
  • Design, develop, and implement efficient and optimized workflows, including Proof of Concept (POC) solutions. 
  • Collaborate closely with the Lead Pipeline Architect and Technical Director, aligning your work with the Head of CGI's overall vision. 
  • Proactively support team members, fostering a collaborative and communicative environment. 
  • Stay at the forefront of creative and technical advancements, sharing knowledge and insights about future technologies. 
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, agile production setting. 
  • Experience with AI/ML, particularly generative AI and LLMs within Unreal Engine, is a significant plus. 
  • Full-stack development and web application deployment skills are beneficial. 
  • Participate in R&D work that may extend beyond traditional CGI applications 
  • You will be open and willing to attend sustainability training relevant to your role and soak up recommended research and reading about sustainability issues

What you need to be great in this role: 

  • Demonstrable experience developing tools and processes within CGI production environment in a development capacity. 
  • Track record developing and implementing pipeline tools and processes to support CGI production artist and client requirements. 
  • Excellent coding and tool development knowledge (Python 3+ years/ MaxScript / SQL) 
  • Confident Object Oriented Programming skills 
  • Solid understanding of CGI production processes workflows that deliver Stills, Animation and Interactive Content. 
  • Good understanding of CGI production processes and toolsets (Unreal Engine, Autodesk 3dsMax/Maya) 
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite tools (Photoshop / Illustrator) 
  • Appreciation and knowledge of traditional 3D render engines (VRay Desirable). 
  • Post production toolset development using Adobe and Foundry Products (PS / AE / Nuke) 
  • Understanding Version control, source control, (GIT 3+ years) 
  • Understanding CI/CD processes (Azure Devops) 
  • Understanding of AI/ML technologies and prompting 
  • REZ package management 
  • Understanding of realtime applications (Unreal Engine 5). 
  • Familiarity working with OEM CAD and complex data sets desirable 
  • Experience with AI and machine learning, particularly generative AI and LLMs 
  • Proficiency in image generation and prompt engineering 
  • Full-stack development skills, including web app deployment and hosting 
  • DevOps experience, including integration/deployment pipelines and cloud platforms (Google Cloud preferred) 
  • Ability to work in a loosely structured, dynamic environment with shifting priorities 
  • Self-motivation and ability to deliver high-priority solutions punctually 
  • Adaptability to engage in R&D work outside of traditional CGI domains 
  • Experience in content creation for Automotive brands 
  • An eye for detail and artistry 
  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud 
  • Background in research and development for emerging technologies
