Role: Senior Conceptual Copywriter

Location: Midrand, South Africa

 

About the role:

Join our dynamic and innovative in-house creative agency, working with our client. Our team is dedicated to crafting engaging and persuasive content that resonates with audiences across both social and digital platforms. We collaborate with diverse departments to ensure our campaigns amplify our brand voice and presence. As a Senior Conceptual Copywriter, you will play a pivotal role in driving creative concepts and optimising content for various platforms, all while working in an energetic and fast-paced environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop original, engaging and innovative concepts and copy for digital, social media and instore campaigns, adapting writing to match a different brand guidelines and tone of voices.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations. You’ll be someone who is open to new ideas and approaches, able to quickly grasp new concepts, and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Craft compelling, SEO-optimized product descriptions, articles and other online content to enhance search engine visibility and improve audience engagement.
  • Execute and edit content that drives traffic and conversions on e-commerce platforms, with a strong focus on FMCG brands.
  • Conduct thorough keyword research to support SEO strategies and assist in maintaining a competitive edge.
  • Partner with marketing and e-commerce teams to ensure the consistency of messaging and integration across campaigns.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, algorithm changes, and best practices across both conceptual copywriting and SEO.
  • Present and communicate ideas effectively to clients and colleagues, working collaboratively to achieve project goals.

What you need to be great in this role:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in a copywriting role, with a strong portfolio highlighting conceptual creativity and SEO skills, preferably in the FMCG or similar industry.
  • Understanding of consumer behaviour and target audience.
  • Excellent written, editing, proofreading, verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple projects at once.
  • Desire to be a team player with a client centric focus and the ability to build strong and effective working relationships.
  • Experience working collaboratively with a design team.
  • Proficient understanding of SEO principles and best practices, with experience using tools like Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, etc.
  • Experience with content management systems and e-commerce platforms is highly desirable.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, capable of working independently and within a team.
  • Experience in presenting ideas confidently in a professional environment.
  • Strong writing portfolio demonstrating conceptual and SEO copywriting skills.
