Role: Digital Strategist - (FTC 12 months)

Location: Durban, South Africa

About the role: 

The Digital Strategist is an essential member of OLIVER's in-house agency model, embedded directly within our client's organisation and reporting to the Strategy Director. This role drives business growth by developing innovative digital strategies that enhance brand presence and deliver measurable results. As the voice of brand strategy, the Digital Strategist partners with our client's team to ensure insights and best practices inform all creative outputs. You'll provide strategic direction through daily collaboration with the client's brand teams.

What you will be doing: 

• Analyse audience, market, and brand data to extract meaningful insights and present clear findings

• Develop strong working relationships with clients, in-house teams, and colleagues to create a cohesive partnership.

• Research and implement digital, mobile, and social media best practices while maintaining quality standards

• Create compelling creative briefs and conduct effective team briefings

• Lead content strategy, planning, and implementation to deliver creative excellence 

What you need to be great in this role: 

• Ability to transform complex data into actionable insights for creative execution

• Excellence in writing clear, compelling, creative briefs

• Strong communication skills to articulate and justify strategic recommendations to client teams

• Exceptional client relationship management with the ability to organise, influence, and build effective partnerships

• Comprehensive understanding of media, digital, mobile, social, content, and data in the consumer journey

• Experience in the FMCG sector

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Digital Media, Communications, or related field

• 3-5 years of digital strategy experience, preferably in an agency environment

• Proven success in developing digital campaigns that achieve business objectives

• Strong analytical abilities and experience with digital analytics platforms

• Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail

• Adaptable problem-solving mindset

• Creative thinking balanced with strategic business acumen
