Role:  Digital Designer

Location:  Johannesburg, South Africa

About the role:

We are partnering with a renowned global leader in the drinks and beverages industry to hire a Digital Designer.  Based on-site (hybrid) within a regional team of seven, you will create best‑in‑class digital content and proactively uphold design quality, accuracy, and consistency. Reporting to the Regional Creative Traffic Manager,  you will be working across microsites and web content, e‑commerce brand stores, commercial media, product and campaign assets, and CRM/email, you’ll work closely with the Creative Team and collaborate with marketing, trade, and e‑commerce teams to shape how our brands show up across bars, retail, and digital platforms. 

What you will be doing: 

  • Take complete ownership of projects from brief to delivery, including direct client communication, presentations, and collaborative work across teams for ideation, creation, and implementation. 
  • Demonstrate expertise in conceptualization, graphic design, illustration, typography, and strong UX/UI design thinking for web, digital, e-commerce, and social advertising. 
  • Define project aesthetics while implementing existing brand guidelines and staying current with emerging digital trends. 
  • Possesses strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with hands-on experience in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects. 
  • Possess 3+ years of experience in digital and print design, preferably in FMCG, lifestyle, or beverage sectors. 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in designing digital content for on-trade and off-trade environments, including POS materials, venue branding, and activation assets tailored for online platforms and interactive experiences. 
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute AR/VR innovations, with knowledge of media strategy and e-commerce campaign support. 
  • Demonstrate understanding and enthusiasm for incorporating AI tools to enhance creative workflows and outputs. 
  • Maintain excellent communication and collaboration skills while engaging with the wider digital creative community. Fluency in English mandatory, fluency in other languages desired. 
  • Present a diverse portfolio showcasing creative work across digital and print platforms, with ability to assist account management and design teams with offline briefs as needed. 

What you need to be great in this role: 

  • Highly creative with excellent digital design skills and ability to produce design collateral within brand guidelines and agreed timescales. 
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of typography, layout, colour, and grid structures while staying aware of emerging digital design trends. 
  • Developing engaging social media visuals and animated content that drive online interaction. 
  • Exceptional motion design skills with a proven ability to create engaging and visually compelling content. 
  • Proficient in Adobe After Effects and related motion design software, with a strong understanding of animation workflows and visual effects.  
  • Deep passion for 2D motion graphics, capable of animating across diverse styles and techniques to deliver engaging visual narratives. 
  • Possess working knowledge of web page design, banner creation, email design, and social media asset creation. 
  • Show aptitude for learning new software efficiently, with good knowledge of digital processes to deliver quality solutions. 
  • Passionate about using GenAI tools to fuse human creativity with AI efficiency, enhancing design workflows and outcomes. 
  • Confident and articulate in sharing ideas and opinions both internally and with clients 
  • Ability to conceptualize and produce visibility materials that enhance brand presence in physical spaces 
  • Experience collaborating with media teams to craft and execute strategies, manage partner relationships, and drive innovation 
  • Portfolio showcasing digital work, preferably with experience in consumer goods, luxury, or drinks and beverages sectors 
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in: 
    • Digital 
    • Motion Graphics 
    • Web Design 
    • UX-UI 
    • AR/ARNR 
    • Production
