Role: Social Media Manager 

Location: Durban, South Africa

About the role: 

We’re looking for a dynamic and strategic Content and Community Manager to lead the social presence of at least two Unilever brands. This role requires a blend of creativity, community engagement, and operational excellence. You’ll work closely with client service teams, external agency partners, and content creators to deliver impactful social media experiences that drive reach, engagement, and sentiment

What you will be doing: 

  • Content & Campaign Management
    •  Manage and execute content calendars for multiple Unilever brand social pages.
    •  Brief and collaborate with content creators to produce platform-appropriate content.
    •  Attend national client events to capture real-time content and drive live engagement.
    •  Align with external creative and media agencies to ensure cohesive brand messaging.
    •  Ensure all content adheres to brand tone, voice, and compliance guidelines.
  • Community Engagement
    •  Actively engage with online communities via comments, DMs, and proactive engagement tactics.
    •  Spot and leverage real-time opportunities to increase brand reach and positive sentiment.
    •  Monitor and respond to brand mentions, tags, and trending conversations.
  • Reporting & Analytics
    •  Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reports on brand pages.
    •  Analyze engagement metrics and content performance to inform future strategies.
    •  Provide insights and recommendations to improve community growth and content effectiveness.
  • Platform & Tool Expertise
    •  Strong working knowledge of Meta Business Suite and TikTok Studio.
    •  Deep understanding of all major social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads) and their capabilities.
    •  Stay updated on platform algorithm changes, new features, and best practices.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    •  Work closely with client service teams to align on campaign goals and deliverables.
    •  Participate in brainstorms and strategy sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
    •  Maintain clear and timely communication with clients and partners. 

What you need to be great in this role: 

  • Proven experience managing brand social media accounts, preferably in an agency setting.
  •  Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills.
  •  Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  •  Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong time management.
  •  Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  •  Self-starter with a proactive mindset and attention to detail.
  •  Strong at home internet connection is required.
  •  Bonus Skills (Nice to Have):
  •  Experience with influencer marketing and UGC campaigns.
  •  Familiarity with paid media and boosting strategies.
  •  Basic graphic design or video editing skills (e.g., Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express).
  •  Experience using social listening tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Sprinklr, Meltwater)
