Role: Content Creator

Location: Tokyo, Japan

About the role:

Looking to do the best work of your career?

Do it with one of the most respected global brands on social. We’re building a team across 15 markets to own our client brand’s social presence end to end: insight and ideation, platform-native creative, publishing, live ops, and community. From the first idea to the final reply, you’ll shape how client's brand shows up every day and create work that influences culture.

You’ll move at newsroom speed with rigorous craft—launching ideas that travel, partnering with standout creators, and turning comments into conversations that become cultural moments. The brief is straightforward: make the brand most culturally relevant brand on social. You’ll have the scale, purpose, and creative freedom to make it real.

If you’re motivated by ideas that matter, sharpened by data, and committed to making the internet more positive, this is the place to do it. Bring your craft and your courage. Together we’ll build culture—not just content—and do the best work of our careers.

You'll be a hands-on creative making content that belongs in people's feeds. With a hybrid working arrangement (minimum 3 days per week on-site), you'll concept, shoot, edit, and produce social-first content for our client's brand across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms. Working closely with the senior content creator, social media managers, and the wider studio team, your ability to produce authentic, culturally fluent content at pace will help keep the brand's social presence genuine, engaging, and distinctly its own.

We support flexible working and are open to different arrangements. We offer reasonable adjustments throughout the process.

You'll be one of the key creatives behind client's brand's social content, producing work that makes the brand one of the most engaging and trusted voices in beauty online. This isn't about polished ad campaigns adapted for social. It's about content that feels native to each platform, content that resonates because it reflects real people, real moments, and real conversations about beauty, confidence, and self-esteem.

Working at the intersection of brand purpose and social culture, you'll create content that sits naturally alongside the creators, conversations, and trends your audience already follows. You understand that the most effective brand content doesn't feel like brand content at all. It feels honest, relevant, and worth sharing.

We're looking for someone who is culturally plugged in, creatively resourceful, and comfortable producing content end to end. Someone who can spot a content opportunity, concept it quickly, produce it with care, and deliver it while it's still relevant. Success means content that people genuinely want to engage with, that strengthens client's brands affinity, and that drives saves, shares, comments, and conversation.

What you will be doing:

  • Concept, shoot, edit, and produce social-first content for client's brand across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Stories, static, and emerging formats
  • Develop content ideas that translate the brands purpose and product messaging into authentic, platform-native moments that audiences relate to and want to share
  • Create lo-fi, high-impact content using a mix of smartphone, DSLR, and simple lighting and production setups, prioritising authenticity over polish
  • Storyboard and present content concepts, clearly articulating the creative idea and platform rationale
  • Stay current with social trends, viral formats, platform features, creator culture, and emerging content styles, flagging relevant opportunities to the team and translating them into content ideas for the brand
  • Produce reactive and real-time content that connects brand to cultural moments and trending conversations while staying true to the brand's voice and values
  • Edit and adapt content across formats and platforms, reimagining a single shoot or asset in multiple ways to maximise reach and relevance (using Premiere Pro, CapCut, and native platform editing tools)
  • Collaborate with social media managers to align content with publishing calendars, campaign timelines, and community engagement priorities
  • Support shoots and content production involving content creators, influencers, and real people, ensuring the process is inclusive, respectful, and reflective of brand's commitment to representing real beauty
  • Experiment with new formats, techniques, and creative approaches, sharing what works and what doesn't with the wider team
  • Use Gen AI tools to support content creation, from ideation and visual references to editing and copy exploration
  • Ensure all content meets platform specifications, brand guidelines, accessibility standards, and compliance requirements

What you need to be great in this role:

  • A portfolio demonstrating 2-4 years of social content creation, with examples of platform-native work that generated genuine audience engagement (shares, saves, comments, conversation)
  • Technical confidence across the content creation process: concepting, shooting, editing, and publishing, with comfort moving between smartphone and DSLR setups
  • Solid editing skills in Premiere Pro, Canva, CapCut, or equivalent, with the ability to adapt content across formats and platforms
  • Fluency in social platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging channels), including an understanding of what performs, why, and how content is discovered and shared
  • A feel for cultural relevance, with the ability to spot trending moments, formats, and conversations and turn them into content ideas quickly
  • Experience creating content for consumer brands, with an understanding of how to communicate product or brand messages in a way that feels genuine and relatable rather than forced
  • The ability to work at social speed, managing your time and priorities to deliver quality content on tight turnarounds
  • A collaborative, proactive attitude, with a willingness to pitch in across different types of content and production needs
  • An interest in inclusive content creation, including authentic representation in casting, imagery, and storytelling
  • Professional proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus

Gen AI and Agentic Thinking:

  • Basic proficiency with Gen AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, DALL-E) to support ideation, mood boarding, visual exploration, and content iteration
  • An agentic approach to your work: ability to self-organise, break down creative tasks, find efficient solutions, and deliver independently
  • Willingness to experiment with AI tools as part of the content creation process, understanding when they add value and when human creativity and judgement are needed
  • Understanding of AI limitations, with an eye for outputs that feel authentic versus generic
  • Qualifications: Formal degrees are welcome but not required. Equivalent experience counts. Experience can be gained through work, study, volunteering, or self-directed learning.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience working on beauty, personal care, wellness, or lifestyle brands
  • Experience in an in-house agency, embedded studio, or social-specialist content team
  • Motion graphics or animation skills (After Effects or similar)
  • Photography skills and experience with still content for social
  • Experience creating content that addresses topics such as body confidence, self-esteem, or inclusivity
  • Familiarity with social analytics and how performance data informs creative decisions
  • Experience with accessibility in content creation (captions, alt text, inclusive design)
  • Experience working with or alongside content creators and influencers
