Role:  Social Media Manager

Location:  Mumbai/Gurgaon/Delhi, India

About the role:

We’re looking for a Social Marketing Manager to shape the voice of one of the world's most culturally significant brands. You aren't just managing social media; you're driving high-impact, strategic opportunities in the Indian market, specifically focusing on YouTube Shopping. You are deeply invested in understanding what drives our audience, and equally passionate about how our products can empower creators to build sustainable, meaningful careers through YouTube Shopping in India. You will use social platforms to deepen our connection with communities, relying on data to uncover insights that drive real-world business results. You will also be the frontline defender of our brand, using your analytical expertise to set up processes that escalate potential risks and respond thoughtfully to what matters most to our users.

The role is highly cross-functional and international. You will collaborate daily with local, regional (APAC), and global YouTube product marketing managers, alongside cross-functional teams in partnerships, legal, communications, and policy

What you will be doing:

  • Always-On Shopping Strategy: Lead the strategy and operations for creator-facing social channels, driving the adoption of YouTube Shopping features. Elevate content that moves creators from awareness to consistent tagging habits.
  • Creator-to-Creator (C2C) Excellence: Shift the Shopping showcase strategy toward a centralized, high-volume C2C content engine. You will champion utility-driven content—like step-by-step How-Tos and creator collaborations—that clearly explains the value of Shopping and drives action.
  • Campaigns & Initiatives: Partner with marketing peers locally and across regions to develop and execute campaigns that deliver on business goals.
  • Fuel the Creative: Engage and lead our social media, influencer, and content agencies. You will guide them to build effective, best in class, innovative campaigns & content targeted at casual and intentful creators.
  • Data-Driven Optimization: Track the real business impact of our social efforts. You will use performance indicators to measure how Shopping content drives views and engagements, identifying what resonates best with creators (e.g., direct value vs. promotional content).
  • Run the Engine: Support full-time employees (FTE) in ensuring compliance with Statements of Work (SOWs), Purchase Orders (POs), and invoicing for all external agency partners.

What you need to be great in this role:

  • The Foundation: A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) and 5 to 7 years of experience planning, executing, and optimizing impactful social media and influencer campaigns.
  • The YouTube DNA: A deep understanding of YouTube’s ecosystem (users, creators, advertisers) and our multi-format products (long-form, short-form, streaming). A strong grasp of the e-commerce landscape and how it intersects with content creation is essential.
  • Agency Expertise: Proven experience leading and collaborating with social media, influencer, and content production agency partners.
  • Cultural Fluency: A comprehensive understanding of the Indian influencer ecosystem, local social media best practices, and the top agencies operating in the market.
  • Analytical Rigor: A strong track record of creativity paired with data-driven optimization. You should be well-versed in social analytics and listening tools (experience with Sprinklr or BrandWatch is a plus).
  • Communication & Hustle: Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English. Fluency in Hindi (and knowledge of other regional Indian languages) is an added advantage. You must be a scrappy, proactive problem-solver with a strong bias for action and a track record of making things happen in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • AI Native: You possess a strong willingness and capability to integrate AI solutions into daily operations, continuously seeking ways to improve efficiency and work quality.
