Role: Associate Creative Director, Copywriting
Location: Toronto, Ontario
About the role:
The Associate Creative Director, Copywriter is responsible for leading and developing high-impact creative concepts and compelling copy that resonates with our target audiences across various platforms. Teamed up with an Associate Creative Director, Art Director, you will guide the creative process from ideation to final execution, ensuring that our standards of innovation, inclusivity, and excellence are upheld.
This role involves close collaboration with the Creative Director, Strategists, Account and Production teams, as well as direct engagement with clients to translate strategic objectives into impactful copy and concepts. The role will also require a hunger for learning, adopting and adapting creative processes and practices with GenAI. We’re looking for someone who is excited and energized by the opportunities presented through technological innovation.
What you will be doing:
- Copywriting Excellence: Craft clear, persuasive, and brand-consistent copy for a variety of marketing materials, including 360 campaigns, social media, digital, print collateral, video scripts, and more.
- Concept Development: Generate innovative ideas and concepts for integrated marketing campaigns and initiatives that effectively engage target audiences.
- Team Collaboration: Partner closely with the Creative Director, Copywriters, and Production teams to create holistic, cohesive campaigns that blend narrative and visual elements seamlessly. Collaborate with the Creative Director to develop and implement creative strategies that align with business objectives and enhance brand storytelling.
- Market Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer insights to inform creative strategies and writing.
- Brand Consistency: Ensure all copy and creative materials align with the client’s tone of voice, brand guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and creativity.
- Project Oversight: Review and refine all creative assets, ensuring they meet our standards for quality and innovation.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior copywriters and other creative team members, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
- Client Engagement: Communicate ideas clearly and persuasively to clients, fostering trust and enthusiasm. Serve as a creative advocate, inspiring clients to embrace bold and innovative conceptual solutions.
- Account Growth: Build lasting relationships with clients to drive repeat business and increase account value. Identify and capitalize on upsell opportunities by understanding client needs and presenting innovative ideas that expand the scope of projects.
- Trends: Stay on top of social, and cultural trends to inform and elevate our creative output.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of growth and innovation.
What you need to be great in this role:
- 8-10 years of experience in copywriting, preferably within an agency. Experience in a financial services or regulated industry is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Advertising, Marketing, or a related field.
- A strong portfolio showcasing a range of writing styles and successful campaigns across various media.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to translate complex concepts into clear and engaging copy.
- Familiarity with digital marketing practices and platforms.
- Creative and strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- At the time of this posting, the base salary for this position may range from $114,750.00 CAD to $128,250.00 CAD. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. The range listed is just one component of OLIVER’s total compensation package.
