Job Description
Olsson offers its clients a full spectrum of water services, including a complete line of planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services.
As an Experienced Designer on our Water Resources team, you will utilize your diversified design experience to perform complex drafting assignments requiring the application of standardized techniques. You will recommend design techniques and minor design changes to ensure the best approach to solve engineering and design needs. You will be able to work well independently and direct efforts of less experienced staff.
Key responsibilities an Experienced Designer can expect in this role include:
Detailed Design Work: Perform detailed design work on projects, including the preparation of drawings and layouts, reviewing project specifications, and performing design calculations as well as ensuring designs align with project objectives and quality standards
Research and Development: Conduct research on various design concepts and techniques, developing approaches to enhance project design work
Review and Estimation: Review drawings, prepare project cost estimates, and attend client meetings
Documentation: Maintain project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and project correspondence
Environmental Studies: Assist in the preparation of environmental impact studies or other project-related studies
Supervision: Supervise, coordinate, and review work for less experienced staff members
Field Work: Work in all types of terrain and weather conditions, and on project sites in various stages of construction may be required
Our Water Resources team is looking for a candidate with outstanding interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving experience, and decision-making capabilities.
The ideal candidate will excel at developing effective solutions to complex challenges and possess an understanding of high-level engineering design capabilities along with advanced knowledge of applicable technologies
We will consider candidates interested in being located in Lincoln or Omaha, NE.

- Associate’s degree in drafting or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
