Job Description
Join Olsson’s Facility Engineering and Design Team as a Mechanical Design Associate supporting healthcare projects. In this role, you will contribute to the design of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. You’ll use your technical experience and design software expertise to prepare detailed drawings, layouts, and system designs while collaborating with engineers and project teams to ensure high-quality, code-compliant solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned designer who is passionate about healthcare facility design and is looking to grow in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed mechanical system layouts and construction drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and other industry-standard software.
- Prepare project documentation, assist with cost estimating, and support schedule development.
- Apply standard design techniques and recommend minor design modifications to improve quality and efficiency.
- Research materials and design techniques to support high-performing healthcare environments.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure design objectives are met.
- Review and maintain project documentation, including specifications and design records.
- Support quality assurance and coordination efforts across disciplines.
- Mentor and review the work of less experienced technicians and designers as needed.
- Participate in site visits and support field-related design coordination as required.

- Associate degree in Drafting/Design Technology or related field (preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on healthcare facilities strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and other mechanical design software.
- Strong understanding of healthcare MEP systems, construction documents, and applicable codes.
- Willingness to work on-site or travel as project needs require.
