Planning and Engagement Team Description:
The Planning and Engagement team at Olsson leads long-range initiatives that shape the future of communities and guide agency investment decisions. We provide integrated planning services across land use and urban design, transportation and transit, active modes, and sustainability for local, state, and federal clients. Our approach is people-focused—combining creativity, data-driven insights, and meaningful public and stakeholder engagement to deliver well-crafted, broadly supported plans that align with community goals.
Description:
We are seeking a dynamic Team Leader to drive performance, growth, and collaboration across our planning team. You will oversee operations, guide strategic initiatives, and mentor staff to ensure excellence in project delivery and client service. This role is ideal for a results-driven leader passionate about team development, cross-functional collaboration, and delivering high-impact planning solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Set team vision, align goals with firmwide strategy, and foster a high-performance culture.
- Oversee staffing, utilization, and financial performance to ensure operational success.
- Coordinates with internal partners including senior business development leaders and other team leaders to deliver growth within the planning team and firmwide growth by leveraging planning work into engineering and design opportunities.
- Lead client service efforts, ensuring satisfaction and consistent service standards.
- Support business development through client strategy, proposals, and pursuit activities.
- Mentor group leaders, project managers, and lead staff to support career growth.
- Ensure quality project delivery, regulatory compliance, and safety standards.
You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences, construction, planning, landscape architecture or a related area preferred. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an associate degree with equivalent experience is required
- A minimum of ten years of related experience within an applicable field or discipline
- Must have at least six years of experience supervising technical personnel.
- AICP certification or ITE certification as Professional Transportation Planner is preferred.
- Combined technical fluency with a proven ability to lead people, drive project success, and support strategic growth initiatives.
- Experience working on or overseeing projects with geographically dispersed team.
