Job Description
Join Olsson’s Power Delivery team as a Designer Technical Manager and play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions for utility transmission and distribution projects. In this role, you’ll provide technical leadership and design oversight, guiding drafting and design teams while supporting project managers in the successful delivery of client projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned designer with utility drafting and design experience who is ready to step into a leadership position that blends technical expertise, mentorship, and client collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for drafting and design tasks on transmission and distribution projects
- Support project managers and Sr. Team Leads in planning, organizing, and executing design deliverables
- Lead development and quality review of design drawings, models, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards
- Mentor and train junior engineers, designers and drafters, fostering professional growth and technical excellence
- Coordinate across internal engineering, drafting, and field teams to ensure deliverables meet project schedules and client requirements
- Participate in client meetings to discuss design progress and technical challenges
- Assist with proposal preparation, work planning, and design-related project documentation
- Help maintain and improve design standards within the Power Delivery team
- Engage in distribution team meetings, fostering strong collaboration and positive working relationships.

- Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or related field (preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in utility drafting/design, with increasing responsibility
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar software
