Job Description
Olsson is seeking an experienced Project Construction Manager / Inspector to join our team and lead diverse construction projects across in transportation and municipal work. This role combines hands-on quality assurance responsibilities with advanced construction management expertise to ensure projects are delivered successfully, on time, and within scope.
As a Project Construction Manager, you will act as the owner’s representative on-site, overseeing all construction activities and ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards. You will manage complex assignments, solve on-site challenges, and coordinate across teams to maintain project predictability and accountability. This position may also involve supervising staff and guiding less experienced team members.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the quality assurance program at project sites, ensuring all inspections, materials testing, RFIs, and submittals are completed per owner requirements.
- Read and interpret plans and specifications at various stages of construction, initiating actions to keep progress on schedule.
- Perform detailed construction management tasks, including reviewing design specifications, coordinating activities, and monitoring progress using advanced knowledge and experience.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, adhering to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Solve on-site problems and implement design modifications as needed.
- Coordinate across Olsson teams and work closely with project managers to report progress and address potential issues.
- May supervise, coordinate, and review work for less experienced staff members.
- Maintain project and client information in the firm’s project management system.
- Work in all types of terrain and weather conditions at project sites in various stages of construction.
This position includes:
- The use of a company truck for transportation to and from job sites.
- Applicable PPE (personal protective equipment) provided.
- Prescription safety eyewear and work boot reimbursement program.

Qualifications

You bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or other applicable field.
- A minimum of six years of experience in construction management and inspection.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and codes.
- Valid drivers license and a good driving history.
- Schedule flexibility.
- American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Grade 1, Nuclear Gauge Safety Training, and OSHA 10 or OSHA30 certifications, preferred but not required.
