Director, Programmatic
About the Role:
The Director, Programmatic is responsible for overseeing programmatic media activation best practice and providing programmatic thought leadership to one Europe’s largest facecare and CPG companies. In this role you will drive and oversee best-in-class programmatic media strategies and execution, aligning to our client’s business priorities. You will contribute to driving the digital transformation and innovation agenda from a programmatic media perspective, ensuring we stay at the forefront of precision marketing.
The role sits within the global (North America & Europe) performance team and involves working closely with Head of Programmatic on driving programmatic strategy, closely with Digital Hub Cluster leads on ensuring best-in-class end-to-end programmatic activation, and closely with the Director, Paid Social for best practice alignment across digital.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, a problem-solver, with proven in-platform expertise in programmatic media who can balance the strategic side alongside the technical. Your main responsibilities involve ensuring the full programmatic team of specialists are following best practice activation whilst driving continual improvement of our programmatic approach for our client through Test & Learn.
Responsibilities:
- Owning and driving best practice in programmatic media planning and activation for our client, including the clear documentation and communication of best practice across internal and client teams for adherence to best practice at scale
- Supporting the innovation agenda for our client by driving programmatic innovation through test & learn and continual improvement, taking accountability for ensuring tests are set up to drive insightful outcomes and learnings are clearly documented, shared and communicated across internal and client teams and inform best practice
- Ensuring you are up to date with developments within the programmatic space, proactively building and maintaining partner relationships and recommending ways to incorporate new developments into our clients test and learn agenda where it aligns to business objectives
- Be the go-to programmatic activation lead for clients through sharing best practice and being a visible voice and presence across client stakeholders
- Leading the team of programmatic specialists from a capability perspective, as the go-to for programmatic activation and best practice support, regularly sharing updates with both programmatic and cross-channel team members on live initiatives, performance, opportunities and any other topics
- Whilst this role does not include direct line-management of programmatic specialists, you are expected to support line managers with sharing feedback and setting objectives from a programmatic capability perspective to support talent mapping and career path development for programmatic specialists
- Working in collaboration with the Head of Programmatic on driving forward programmatic innovation and strategy for our client in alignment with the OMD EMEA approach to Programmatic, with Digital Hub Cluster Leads on ensuring the delivery of activation best practice, and with Director, Paid Social for cross-channel alignment to ensure consistency in approach across digital media.
- Surfacing the best work within the team and promoting this internally and externally via case study submissions and award entries
- Building a programmatic community and supporting the Executive Directors from a team leadership perspective, building and maintaining a positive, collaborative and supportive culture focused on opportunities and solutions to challenges
- Build programmatic relationships across performance community at OMD EMEA to contribute to agency best practice, learn from others experiences to unlock new opportunities for our client
About You:
- Extensive experience managing programmatic platforms incl. DV360, Amazon DSP, TTD as well as an understanding of the full ad-tech ecosystem incl. 3rd party platforms such as GA4, Campaign Manager, IAS
- Exceptional project management and coordination skills, with a logical approach to problem solving and an ability to manage prioritisation of projects in line with client business objectives
- An understanding of how Programmatic can integrate with other digital and offline channels
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; able to apply different communication styles in different situations
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent team leadership
- You will be very comfortable managing relationships with clients and colleagues, and will have experience leading a team of specialists, working with them to ensure efficiency of output and quality of work.
- You will have an understanding of the role of publishers and/or technology platforms widely used across paid for digital media channels
- You will have an in depth understanding of KPI selection within paid for digital media channels
- You will have experience activating media and therefore an understanding of best practice across campaign setup, QA, reporting, insight generation and finance
- You will have an understanding of brand safety and fraud prevention techniques
