Director, Planning
About the Role:
The Planning Director is a pivotal role on the Philips account at OMD EMEA, driving Media Planning Best in Class capabilities and output across our Network.
The centralised Philips Western Europe client is responsible for strategic direction and ensuring absolute marketing excellence across all of Philips’ marketing activity in Europe. The key role of the central team is to drive local output by creating central guidance and frameworks, collating and sharing best practice, and leading strategic thought leadership agenda in Media for Philips Western Europe.
The Media Planning Director will be the key recipient of the Comms Planning Briefs from the Philips central client and will then work closely with Strategy, Digital (including Commerce) and Research & Insights teams to lead our collective response to briefs & projects. This role thus requires strong communication and client service skills, as well as being able to navigate and manage multiple senior stakeholders both on Philips side and internally.
This role is for a candidate who is passionate about driving business impact, who challenges status quo, enjoys creativity and continuously elevating output to deliver best-in-class solutions for clients and the agency. Candidate should have extensive experience and success track record in previous Media Planning client-facing roles, as well as managing teams (direct and in-direct reporting teams). You will also have good knowledge of Digital (includes Commerce), Data and Media Planning.
Specific areas of responsibilities involve:
- Lead the Media response during annual planning across four categories (Male Grooming, Oral Healthcare, Beauty and Mother & Child Care)
- Be the champion of Omnicom’s best in class platform (omni) and tools – ensuring Philips team members are up to speed on the value they add and how best to unlock that value
- Have deep knowledge of cross channel planning - ideally having local country experience in a similar role
- Involved in Media JBP workstreams in partnership with Digital leads to ensure it’s aligned with the wider brand goals and best value is driven for our clients.
- Co-approve all key Media performance review to help optimise media strategy
- Work alongside the global media team to translate global frameworks in to how they can come to life in Western Europe (g., the media Planning Principals)
- This role also has input in to those global workstreams as Western Europe is the biggest & most complex region so is often to for what gold standard outputs looks like
- Collaborate with local markets to guide them on decisions to ensure their activation plans stay true to the regional direction set
- Work closely with specialist teams to understand core products and their strategic value to clients & look for opportunities to recommend services that deliver incremental revenue
- Develop strong relationships with clients and earn their trust through brilliant thinking and proactivity
- Key contributor in helping upskill clients and local countries on what great media planning should be
- Role includes managing two Senior. Media Managers. Individual should provide leadership and guidance with a strong focus on talent development, coaching. And fostering high performance across their team.
