Technical Delivery Manager
Role Overview
The Technical Delivery Manager is accountable for end‑to‑end delivery control of the Volkswagen Group (VWG) technical re-platforming programme. This role ensures complex, multi‑stream platform change is delivered predictably, safely, and with minimal risk to live reporting, operational SLAs, and senior client confidence.
Operating at the centre of architecture, engineering, vendors, and VWG stakeholders, the role translates technical strategy into executable delivery plans and maintains tight control over dependencies, risk, sequencing, and release during a high‑risk platform transition.
Why This Role Matters
The VWG replatforming programme is a high‑value, high‑risk transformation directly linked to client retention, delivery stability, and future commercial growth. Failure or uncontrolled change would have disproportionate commercial and reputational impact.
This role exists to:
- De‑risk the replatforming while protecting live reporting and business‑critical outputs
- Provide a single point of delivery accountability across a complex technical ecosystem
- Enable engineering and architecture teams to focus on execution by absorbing delivery overhead
- Maintain transparency, control, and trust with senior VWG stakeholders throughout the transition
Key Responsibilities
End‑to‑End Delivery Ownership
- Own delivery orchestration for the VWG replatforming across architecture, engineering, vendors, and internal DTO teams
- Maintain a consolidated view of delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and capacity constraints
- Translate platform strategy and architectural direction into sequenced, executable delivery plans
Replatforming Control & Risk Management
- Actively manage delivery risk during platform migration, including data pipelines, transformation layers, and reporting outputs
- Protect live environments, SLAs, and client reporting while transition activity is underway
- Own RAID management and ensure early identification, mitigation, and escalation of delivery risks
Cross‑Functional Technical Coordination
- Serve as the primary interface between technical architecture, engineering teams, vendors, and client‑facing stakeholders
- Coordinate dependencies across ingestion, transformation, orchestration, QA, and reporting workstreams
- Ensure requirements are technically feasible, clearly scoped, and aligned to target‑state architecture
Planning, Governance & Ways of Working
- Establish and enforce delivery governance, cadence, and control mechanisms appropriate for a high‑risk replatforming
- Ensure delivery remains predictable, transparent, and well‑governed under pressure
- Maintain delivery artefacts including plans, dependency maps, RAID logs, and executive‑level status views
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Act as a senior, client‑visible delivery lead for VWG during the replatforming programme
- Provide clear, honest, and proactive communication on delivery status, risks, and trade‑offs
- Build and maintain confidence with senior VWG stakeholders through disciplined delivery control
What We’re Looking For
- Senior Delivery Manager / Technical Programme Manager with experience in large‑scale data platform replatforming or cloud migrations
- Strong understanding of modern data platforms and analytics stacks (cloud data warehouses, ingestion, transformation, orchestration, BI)
- Proven ability to operate in complex, multi‑vendor, multi‑stream technical environments
- Comfortable working in high‑pressure, senior‑stakeholder, client‑visible roles
- Pragmatic, structured, and outcome‑focused approach to delivery and risk management
Reporting Line
- Reports into the DTO leadership team
- Works in close partnership with Architecture, Engineering, Product, Governance, and Enablement leads
