About the Role:  

We are seeking a Senior Manager, People Operations to join our team and work under the guidance of the Director, People & Culture. This is a full-time salaried position with a fixed term of 2 years. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that ON employees receive best-in-class total rewards that optimize their health and wellbeing. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with management to design and implement HR systems and practices that reflect ON’s mission. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • HRIS: Serve as the subject matter authority and project lead in the implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrade of HRIS systems and processes. Act as the liaison between internal teams, application vendors, and IT for system improvements, requirements, testing strategies, and success metrics. 
  • Benefits & Wellness: Manage ON’s domestic and international benefits & wellness programs, platforms, plan changes, and vendor relationships including but not limited to 401(k), insurance, paid time off & leave programs, workers compensation, retirement, PEO management, employee assistance program, etc.  
  • Compliance: Manage federal, state, and international compliance programs and reporting, including mandatory filings, audits, HR policy and procedure development & updates, and employee compliance training in close partnership with internal collaborators (e.g. Legal, IT, Finance).  
  • Payroll: Coordinate with the Finance team to review and approve the semi-monthly (domestic) and monthly (international) payroll processes. Design and lead the project management of ad-hoc payroll processes for legacy portfolios and stipend agreements. Facilitate new state and international registrations as applicable in partnership with Finance and external vendors.  
  • Immigration: Partner with legal counsel, managers, and staff to facilitate visa and immigration application submission and renewal processes as applicable.  
  • Administration & Facilities Operations: Serve as a liaison between the admin team and senior management synthesizing and elevating feedback and team needs. Supervise the day-to-day operations of the DC office, which involves developing & implementing office use procedures/guidelines, overseeing admin overtime & regulations, and being the go-to person for onsite admins regarding building management needs. Manage admin/temp agency, travel, and other applicable vendor relationships and contracts. 
  • General Team Support:  
    • Advise executive leadership, the People Operations team and the firm on all benefits processes, programs and issues.  
    • Establish, design and maintain data and reporting to validate effectiveness of strategies.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of current programs and recommend and implement new or modified compensation, benefits and total rewards programs to remain competitive.  
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and standard methodologies in HR operations, proactively recommending innovative solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness and team efficiency.  
    • Champion ON’s culture and embody ON’s values of boldness, connection, curiosity, integrity, and respect.  
    • Provide ad-hoc project support to the broader People Operations team and complete cross-training to extend back-up as needed.  

Location: While we are currently working in a hybrid capacity, the position will be based out of our Washington, D.C. office. Employees are permitted to live in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia (i.e., the DMV) and must reside within 100 miles of ON’s Washington, D.C. office location. Candidates must have a current U.S. work authorization to be considered.  

Compensation: This is a full-time salaried position with a fixed term of 2 years. It offers competitive pay and benefits, including health care (medical/dental/vision), paid time off, and a generous employer 401(k) contribution. The salary range in the DMV area is $162,252 - $202,815. ON manages pay equity seriously and new hires generally start at the midpoint of this range. 

Qualifications Required:  

  • A minimum of 7 years human resources and benefits management experience in a complex fast-paced role; HRIS implementation and international/global HR experience a plus  
  • Brings a balanced combination of collaboration and independence, is a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who enjoys crafting and implementing new insights while deeply listening to others  
  • Strong project management skills with a high detail-orientation and a demonstrable track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of initiatives concurrently  
  • Ability to synthesize data, identify trends, and make balanced, objective recommendations in a proactive manner  
  • Builds and maintains long-term collaborative relationships, using flexibility and finesse; understands and connects with others' motivations
  • High energy, maturity, and leadership that serves as a unifying force to position people & culture discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels  
  • Strong writing and speaking skills to adapt communication for different audiences; ability to influence others to meet organizational goals
  • Leans into creative thinking, brings a solutions orientation to problem-solving, and can brainstorm multiple solutions while weighing differing priorities
