Peer Navigator
About Us:
OncoveryCare is an early-stage virtual healthcare company committed to fundamentally rethinking and transforming the landscape of physical and mental healthcare for cancer survivors. Our team is composed of cancer survivors, physicians, and experts in cutting-edge healthcare delivery. We believe that care after a cancer diagnosis shouldn’t end when treatment is over, and we provide an innovative, evidence-based approach to deliver patient-centered, whole-person support for survivors throughout the cancer journey.
Our vision is a world where living beyond cancer isn’t just “surviving”—it’s thriving.
A few tidbits about cancer survivorship:
- There are over 18 million cancer survivors in the United States today—and that number is expected to grow to 26 million by 2040
- Cancer survivors experience a range of physical and mental health side effects from treatment
- Survivorship starts at the moment of diagnosis and continues post-treatment—we are starting in the “transitions of care” phase post-treatment, when there is often not a specialized team to take over caring for the survivor moving forward
Our Guiding Principles:
- By survivors, for survivors: We build the survivor voice and experience into all that we do
- Clinical integrity and rigor: We prioritize evidence-based approaches and an integrated team to deliver the highest-quality care
- Trauma-informed care: We “meet survivors where they are” and respect their lived experience
- Changing the status quo: We are committed to radically reinventing how cancer survivorship care is designed, delivered, and experienced
- Transparency & inclusivity: Building a new frontier of cancer care is both hard and rewarding—everyone has a role to play, and fostering a positive and open team culture is our priority
About the Role:
At OncoveryCare, we deeply understand the impact of cancer on a patient’s overall health and we are dedicated to trauma-informed and evidence-based care. And we believe that when it comes to understanding the cancer journey, survivors are the true experts.
As an Oncovery Peer Navigator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting other survivors by helping to guide them through the transition from active treatment to survivorship. You’ll offer survivors a warm welcome and one-on-one support to ensure they feel seen and heard from day one. As someone who has been through it and knows the ropes, you’ll help navigate them to resources and encourage them through their early days of their own survivorship.
You’ll also collaborate closely with clinical teams, providing feedback to improve patient experience and refining processes to better serve the cancer survivor community. In this role, you’ll get the chance to lead by example, scale a new form of care delivery, and personally and professionally grow within a supportive, purpose-driven team dedicated to redefining cancer care.
What You’ll Do:
- Welcome and Onboarding: Provide a warm, human touch for survivors
- One-on-One Support: Provide individual support through asynchronous chat, phone call and video visits for patients
- Patient Advocacy: Gather and represent survivor voices, providing input on program improvements and advocating for additional services
- Care Navigation: Collaborate with the care team to ensure seamless access to social services and community resources
- Educational Guidance: Provide survivors and families with evidence-based educational materials from OncoveryCare
- Foster Community Collaboration: Build connections with local community partners and develop a strong network of community and national resources
- Fielding Patient Admin Questions: Help to field any patient admin questions, such as those related to billing, technology use, and contact information
- Program Development: Collaborate with leadership to develop and enhance the Peer program, incorporating survivor feedback to improve the patient experience.
- Peer Training & Development: Recruit, train, and provide ongoing professional development for Peer Navigators to expand their knowledge and impact
How You’ll Thrive:
- Within the first 90 days: You will onboard with our care team, engaging with executive leadership and healthcare providers at the forefront of survivorship. You will become familiar with the OncoveryCare philosophy, technology platform and our integrated approach to survivorship, and begin conducting outreach calls to patients.
- Within the first year: You’ll build a strong rapport with patients and peer guides, gain expertise in the healthcare ecosystem, and play a key role in refining our survivorship care approach
- Long-term growth opportunity: You’ll have the opportunity to drive strategic peer program changes, expand your leadership skills, and grow as a thought leader within the company
What You Will Need:
- 3+ years of work experience with a preference for folks who have experience in a healthcare or health-related setting
- Prior completion or current willingness to complete formal peer mentorship and/or oncology navigation training
- Passion for OncoveryCare’s mission, model, and the survivorship community
- Excellent communication, empathy, and active listening skills
- Availability to work full-time or part-time, with a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week

- High emotional intelligence. You pride yourself on being a strong listener, communicator and are able to empathize with people with diverse life experiences
- Go-getter: You’re psyched to roll-up your sleeves, get things done, and don’t mind playing a versatile role on a fast-paced team
- Forward thinking. You have often dreamt of ways to improve survivorship care and are passionate about contributing to a team dedicated to transforming the status quo.
