What You’ll Do 🚀

📍This position will be located at our Corporate Office: 2355 W Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85027    

The Senior Commercial Operations & Strategy Lead provides enterprise-level leadership for the Commercial Lending & Banking division by driving strategic initiatives, optimizing processes, managing policies, producing executive and board-level reporting, and supporting both Commercial Lending and Treasury Services functions. This role partners across Commercial, Credit, Operations, Treasury, IT, Risk, Compliance, and Agile Value Stream teams to enhance performance, efficiency, and scalability. The position also supports internal and external loan reviews, regulatory exams, and third-party assessments, influencing outcomes across all aspects of commercial banking without direct people management responsibility.

Essential Functions

 Strategic & Project Leadership:

  • Support cross-functional commercial banking initiatives and strategic projects.
  • Support system conversions, product launches, and operational enhancements.
  • Coordinate timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communication.
  • Serve as a liaison between Commercial, Treasury, Operations, Credit, IT, Risk, Compliance.            

Process & Procedure Optimization:

  • Identify inefficiencies across commercial lending and treasury workflows.
  • Design and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and client experience.
  • Ensure procedures align with regulatory, risk, and operational standards.
  • Maintain and update commercial banking procedures and workflows.

Policy Management:

  • Support leadership with managing Commercial Lending and Banking-related policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Support policy reviews, updates, and approvals in alignment with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Partner with Compliance and Risk to ensure policy adherence.
  • Ensure policies support business strategy, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation.

Reporting & Performance Analytics:

  • Support leadership with all Commercial Lending and Banking reporting, including:
  • Board and executive reports
  • Production, pipeline, and portfolio dashboards
  • Treasury/Cash Management performance metrics
  • Analyze trends and provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Track KPIs related to growth, profitability, efficiency, and risk.

Commercial Lending Support:

  • Provide operational and strategic support to commercial lending teams.
  • Partner with Credit, Underwriting, and Portfolio Management on initiatives.
  • Help standardize practices across markets and regions.

Treasury & Cash Management Alignment:

  • Support adoption of cash management solutions.
  • Align treasury offerings with commercial growth strategies.

Loan Review, Audit & Regulatory Support:

  • Support internal and external commercial loan reviews conducted by third parties, auditors, or regulators.
  • Coordinate document requests, data collection, and response management.
  • Partner with Credit, Compliance, and Risk teams to address findings and recommendations.
  • Help develop and track remediation plans for any identified issues.
  • Support regulatory exams related to Commercial Lending and Banking and Treasury Services.

Risk, Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure alignment with regulatory and internal risk requirements.
  • Support audit and exam preparation.
  • Monitor and mitigate operational risk within commercial processes.
  • Manage and maintain the vendor management system for all departmental vendors.
  • Support ongoing vendor risk assessment and performance reviews.            

Executive & Stakeholder Communication:

  • Prepare presentations and materials for senior leadership and the Board.
  • Clearly communicate progress, risks, and outcomes of key initiatives.

What You Bring 🎯

  • H.S. Diploma Required
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance or related field preferred
  • 8-10 years similar or related experience Financial Services, Commercial Lending, Business Banking, or another related field required.
  • 5-8 years similar or related experience leading cross-functional projects and initiatives required.
  • Advanced reporting, analytics, and executive presentation skills
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, risk, and compliance
  • Experience with system conversions or operational transformations
  • Familiarity with regulatory exams, loan reviews, and Loan Committee governance.
  • Project management or process improvement certifications (PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, SAFe, etc.)

  • Target hiring range $84,000 - $105,000 USD (Depending on experience and prior to any incentives this position is eligible for)
