Job Summary:
The Master Electrician will oversee, install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components, ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and customer specifications. This role may involve supervising electrical teams, planning projects, troubleshooting complex electrical issues, and providing expertise on a wide range of electrical projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including wiring, lighting, and control systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Ensure all electrical installations comply with local and national electrical codes.
- Plan and coordinate electrical projects from start to finish.
- Estimate material and labor costs for projects.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
- Use specialized tools and equipment to test electrical systems and identify problems.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and national electrical codes.
- Implement and enforce safety regulations and protocols.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time and material logs.
- Prepare and submit reports on completed work and project progress.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program.
- Licensing: Valid Master Electrician license in the state of Michigan.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a journeyman electrician.
Skills:
- Proficient in reading blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with electrical testing equipment and hand tools.
Work Environment:
- The Master Electrician will work in a variety of settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
- The role may involve working in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, and bending.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
