Position Objective:
OneEnergy is adding a Senior Legal Counsel with significant renewable energy project development and finance experience (5 to 7 years) to our in-house legal team. This is a full-time, permanent position available for a senior in-house or outside attorney with significant experience related to the development, construction and financing of renewable energy projects (preferably solar energy projects).
The senior legal counsel will assist the company’s General Counsel and the OneEnergy team to develop, finance, construct and sell solar energy projects across the United States. This role works cohesively and collaboratively with the General Counsel and across other companywide functional teams, including Development, Delivery, Operations, Finance.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing and negotiating undeveloped real property lease agreements and other real estate agreements for project transmission and access rights.
- Reviewing real property title reports and assisting with clearing title exceptions.
- Reviewing and analyzing property surveys. Preparing documentation to assist with resolving survey and related title issues.
- Preparing and negotiating vendor supply agreements.
- Preparing and negotiating engineering, procurement, and construction agreements and other related agreements for the construction of solar energy projects.
- Assisting with the preparation of loan agreements for the construction of solar energy projects.
- Preparing and negotiating asset sale agreements for the sale of solar energy projects.
- Preparing corporate documents, including authorization of the applicable OneEnergy parties to purchase/sell solar energy projects.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate from a nationally accredited law school and admitted to practice law in Wisconsin, Washington, Oregon, or Colorado.
- 5+ years of in-house legal experience working for a renewable energy project development company or working in a renewable energy group of a multi-state law firm, with an emphasis on development, construction, finance, and sale of renewable energy projects; experience in solar energy development is preferred.
- Experience in preparing and negotiating renewable energy-related development and financing agreements, including ground leases, engineering, procurement and construction agreements, construction loan agreements, power purchase agreements and interconnection agreements.
- Demonstrated track record of success in related legal work, with an emphasis on the development, construction and financing of renewable energy projects.
- Experience in preparing and negotiating a myriad of real estate-related project documents.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of time management and organizational skills resulting in the ability to prioritize/manage multiple projects at various stages of development.
- Must have a “roll up your sleeves and let’s get the job done right” type attitude.
- Demonstrated qualities of integrity, credibility, and fiduciary responsibility.
- Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership, initiative, and accountability.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of integrity and organizational capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.

OneEnergy’s compensation packages are dependent on an array of factors including, but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, geographic location, and other organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the salary for this role $150k-215k. We also provide generous Paid Time Off (six weeks/year), Paid Paternity Leave and an impactful Volunteer Time Off Program.
