Senior Business Analyst - Hybrid
What You'll Get to Do as a Business Analyst supporting a Federal Data Migration Project:
- Support a large federal data migration effort, assisting in the transition from a legacy system to a modernized enterprise application.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and validate data migration requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals and federal compliance standards.
- Assessing gaps between the legacy and target system, documenting data and user interface needs that need to be implemented in the target system.
- Develop and maintain business process documentation, data mapping specifications, and migration rules to support accurate and secure data transfer.
- Coordinate with technical teams to ensure data integrity, quality, and consistency throughout extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Act as a liaison between business users, legacy system owners, and modernization teams to ensure a shared understanding of data structure, relationships, and constraints.
- Participate in the planning and execution of data validation and reconciliation activities to verify successful migration outcomes.
- Analyze current data workflows and recommend improvements to data governance, stewardship, and lifecycle management in the new system.
- Support product and business management in the development and refinement of data dashboards, reports, and performance indicators that track migration progress and data health.
- Contribute to risk assessments, alternative analyses, and documentation of migration strategies, leveraging industry best practices for federal data modernization.
- Author and review business and technical documentation, including test plans, user stories, acceptance criteria, and change requests.
- Support Independent Validation and Verification (IV&V) testing, assessing and validating findings
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of migrated data
- Provide ongoing insights to improve the migration approach, ensuring delivery is on schedule, within scope, and aligned with user expectations.
- U.S. Citizenship required for DHS Suitability clearance.
- Business Analyst experience supporting federal IT modernization and large-scale data migration projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business language.
- Capability to develop a strong understanding of legacy systems, data modeling, and data transformation processes.
- Experience with data analysis, validation techniques, and quality assurance in a regulated or government environment.
- Proven ability to work in Agile delivery environments with cross-functional, multi-vendor teams.
- Ability to gain familiarity with federal data governance policies, compliance requirements, and data security standards.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
