Field Quality Lead

Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled Projects Quality Manager with 10 years of experience to support the quality assurance of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for equipment delivery and installation at site. In this role, you will lead Quality Inspectors, and will work closely with engineering, supply chain, and construction teams in the processes of monitoring the equipment delivery, receiving inspections, and evaluating civil, mechanical and electrical installations. Provide field support during installation and commissioning for key components such as batteries, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and auxiliary systems. This role focuses on preventing quality issues and tracking non-conformances through resolution prior to the mechanical completion of the project, and commissioning process.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement a Project’s Quality Management Plan with a culture of continuous improvement (Plan, Do, Check, Act).
- Responsible for mapping and documenting Project’s Quality processes in compliance with ISO 9001 requirements (Process Approach).
- Create the documentation required for Project’s Quality processes: ITP, and Inspection Checklists for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Communications Installations.
- Manage the Project’s quality database (Documents Control).
- Leads and directs Quality Inspector’s activities focusing on project’s quality inspections, non-conformance management, and supporting RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) of field events.
- Works in conjunction with Supplier’s Quality Manager to develop a Digital Platform to conduct audits and inspections and to manage non-conformities and Corrective Actions.
- Review and approve contractor’s quality documentation, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), FATs, and quality control documentation packages.
- Schedule and Coordinate project’s quality Inspections to verify compliance with On.Energy and industry standards and requirements.
- Maintains Project’s Quality Documents data base.
- Provide supplier performance feedback and input to quality metrics and supplier scorecards.
- Defines and Tracks the Project’s Quality OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) with a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Quality Engineering (or a closely related technical field).
- 10 years of experience in project’s construction and products quality engineering within the energy industry.
- Hands-on experience with electrical power systems utilized on BESS, Batteries, inverters, transformers, switchgear, control cabinets, and other similar equipment is preferred.
- Working knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001), RCA (Rooth Cause Analysis) and Corrective Actions Handling.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (IEEE 1547, UL 9540/9540A, IEC, ISO 9001, NEC) and general equipment test protocols.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical understanding of civil, mechanical and electrical construction processes in the energy industry.
- Willingness to travel (up to 75%) to domestic and international project sites.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities; capable of interfacing effectively with contractors, suppliers and cross-functional teams.
