Sales Engineer Manager

The Sales Engineering Manager will lead the technical-commercial strategy connecting ON Energy’s business development, engineering, and customer teams. This role oversees the delivery of advanced Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and power infrastructure solutions for hyperscale data centers, industrial operations, and utility-scale clients. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in energy systems and data center electrical infrastructure with leadership experience in consultative sales, solution design, and project development—driving both customer success and business growth.


As a Sales Engineer Manager at ON Energy, you will:


Technical Pre-Sales

  • Lead technical engagements with clients to define system architecture, sizing, and performance requirements for BESS and data center power systems.
  • Develop conceptual and detailed design proposals, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Support proposal development by preparing technical documentation, cost estimates, and performance simulations.
  • Translate customer requirements into system configurations optimized for performance, cost, and reliability.

Commercial and Client Interfacing

  • Partner with business development and executive teams to define bid strategies and technical differentiators.
  • Deliver technical presentations and system demonstrations to key stakeholders, including C-level executives, engineers, and procurement teams.
  • Participate in RFP/RFQ responses, ensuring all technical deliverables meet client specifications.
  • Support contract negotiations by clarifying technical scope and validating cost structures.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, project management, and procurement teams to ensure seamless project handoff and delivery.
  • Provide feedback to the product and engineering teams regarding customer needs and emerging market trends.
  • Assist marketing and product management with content and case studies demonstrating the value of ON Energy’s solution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in managing technical sales, applications engineering, or solution engineering within the BESS, renewable energy, or data center industries. Strong understanding of battery storage systems (lithium-ion preferred), inverters, switchgear, and controls.
  • Knowledge of data center electrical infrastructure including UPS systems, backup generation, and critical power distribution.
  • Proficiency in interpreting electrical drawings and system schematics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and executive audiences.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, or Business Administration.
  • Familiarity with Procore, AutoCAD, or electrical modeling tools (ETAP, HOMER, or similar).
  • Experience with EPC or IPP project development processes.
  • Understanding of interconnection, permitting, and grid compliance requirements.
