ON.energy is building the power infrastructure that makes the AI era possible. As AI demand surges past what the grid and traditional data centers can support, ON.energy provides a new class of power technology proven at gigawatt scale and trusted by the world’s leading cloud and AI companies. Our systems are already deployed across 2.5 GW of hyper-scale campuses, validated by top U.S. national labs, and certified for grid-safe operation by major utilities. With real products in the field, we’re scaling faster than the grid can, transforming power from a bottleneck into a competitive advantage for the companies building the future.

We're looking for a hands-on QA leader to build our quality engineering program from the ground up. You'll start as an individual contributor writing automation, implementing processes, and learning our systems firsthand while establishing the foundation to hire and lead a QA team.

What You'll Do
- Build the Program (Months 0-3)
- Design and implement an automation-first testing strategy across cloud and on-prem applications
- Build test frameworks, CI/CD quality gates, and release acceptance criteria
- Establish QA processes, metrics, and tooling that integrate into our SDLC
- Own quality end-to-end: automation, regression suites, test infrastructure, and release validation

Grow the Team (Months 3-12)
- Hire and mentor a 2-4 person QA/automation team
- Evolve into a player-coach role balancing hands-on work with team leadership
- Communicate quality risks and priorities to engineering leadership

Requirements
- 8+ years in software QA or test automation, with at least 3 years in a leadership or technical lead role

At least 2 of these 3:
- Built automation frameworks and test tooling at scale
- Established QA programs from scratch
- Deep QA experience in BESS, renewable energy, or utility-scale systems

Technical Must-Haves:
- Expert and Advocate for test automation (Pytest, etc.)
- Strong with CI/CD (Azure DevOps or similar)
- Performance/Stress testing knowledge
- Comfortable with Docker, test data management, and observability tools

Core Traits:
- Automation-first mindset
- Pragmatic and hands-on; you engage directly in testing/automation, not just strategy and oversight
- Data-driven decision maker
- Strong communicator who can translate technical risk to business impact

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive salary + performance bonus

  • 401(k) match, health, vision, dental

  • Paid time off and company holidays

  • Work that matters—building resilient, secure infrastructure for the future of energy
