Total Rewards & People Operations Specialist
ON.energy is building the power infrastructure that makes the AI era possible. As AI demand surges past what the grid and traditional data centers can support, ON.energy provides a new class of power technology proven at gigawatt scale and trusted by the world’s leading cloud and AI companies. Our systems are already deployed across 2.5 GW of hyper-scale campuses, validated by top U.S. national labs, and certified for grid-safe operation by major utilities. With real products in the field, we’re scaling faster than the grid can, transforming power from a bottleneck into a competitive advantage for the companies building the future.
ON.energy are seeking a Total Rewards & People Operations Specialist to own the programs and processes that keep our compensation, benefits, and people operations running accurately and at scale. Sitting within People & Culture, you will administer total rewards programs and the systems and data behind them, working independently to solve problems that are difficult and sometimes complex. You will manage projects and processes end to end, and partner closely with payroll, finance, and people business partners across our U.S. and international teams. You will also coach and review the work of more junior analysts to deliver an accurate, consistent experience as we grow.
Key Responsibilities
Total Rewards
-
Administer compensation programs end to end — including the annual merit, bonus, and equity cycles — and prepare clear, accurate inputs and analysis for review.
-
Maintain salary structures, job architecture, and the job catalog; map roles to the leveling framework and recommend leveling and offer decisions using market data.
-
Run market benchmarking using compensation surveys (e.g., Aon, Mercer, Carta) and translate findings into actionable range and pay recommendations.
-
Administer benefits programs — medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and leave — including open enrollment, vendor coordination, and resolving employee questions.
-
Monitor and support compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., FLSA, ACA, ERISA, and pay-transparency requirements), including multi-state and international considerations.
People Operations
- Own HRIS data integrity, workflows, and reporting; process employee lifecycle transactions across onboarding, job and pay changes, and offboarding.
- Partner with payroll to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant pay across U.S. and Mexico-based teams, conducting reconciliations and resolving discrepancies at the root cause.
- Develop and document People Operations standard operating procedures, controls, and self-service resources to scale a consistent employee experience.
- Produce people analytics and reporting — headcount, turnover, compa-ratios, and program metrics — to inform decisions and support audits.
- Coach and review the work of more junior analysts, and serve as a subject-matter resource and escalation point for complex compensation, benefits, and operations questions.
What You’ll Bring
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in total rewards, compensation and benefits, and/or HR / People Operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on HRIS experience (e.g., Workday, HiBob, BambooHR, ADP) and advanced Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets skills.
- Working knowledge of compensation benchmarking and survey methodology, job architecture, and leveling frameworks.
- Familiarity with U.S. employment and benefits regulations; exposure to multi-country programs (U.S. plus Mexico / LatAm) is a strong plus.
- Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams independently, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
- High attention to detail and sound judgment handling confidential and sensitive data.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCP, CEBS, PHR/SHRM-CP) are a plus.
