Facility Systems Technician - Houston Operations

ON.energy is setting the standard for large load interconnection. ON’s patented AI UPS™ is a medium-voltage UPS that serves as a firewall, protecting the data center from the grid, and the grid from the data center. With multiple gigawatts currently under construction, we are enabling grid-safe data centers. 

The Facility Systems Technician will inspect, operate, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair the essential infrastructure supporting ON.energy's Houston offices, warehouses, and high-power laboratories. The role focuses on electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, HVAC and cooling, plumbing, controls, and life-safety systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor critical systems, environmental conditions, alarms, and controls; complete equipment rounds and document operating readings.
  • Perform assigned preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with procedures, manufacturer guidance, permits, and safety requirements.
  • Use drawings, schematics, meters, and diagnostic tools to identify faults within authorized work boundaries.
  • Respond to equipment malfunctions, power interruptions, leaks, temperature alarms, and other abnormal facility conditions.
  • Follow lockout/tagout, electrical safety, PPE, chemical-handling, hot-work, confined-space, and related work controls.
  • Maintain orderly work areas and inspect emergency lighting, alarms, suppression, eyewash, signage, and protective equipment.
  • Update work orders, equipment records, inspection forms, materials used, findings, and follow-up needs accurately and promptly.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or technically complex facility-maintenance experience.
  • Strong foundation in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, controls, or related building systems.
  • Ability to read schematics, use diagnostic tools, perform physical field work, and respond safely to urgent conditions.
  • Clear communication skills and proficiency with digital work orders, email, and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • EPA Universal, OSHA, trade license, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, first aid/CPR, or emergency-response training preferred.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first year, demonstrate safe and dependable equipment rounds, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, emergency response, and work documentation. Complete assigned work on time, identify abnormal conditions early, maintain accurate records, and reliably support laboratory and workplace operations.
