Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of Enterprise Enablement, the AI Architect will help OneStream responsibly adopt and scale artificial intelligence by identifying high-value business opportunities, translating them into practical architecture and transformation plans, and aligning delivery with enterprise architecture, security, privacy, data and responsible AI expectations. The role connects business process redesign, enterprise architecture, solution design, governance alignment and adoption enablement. This ensures AI initiatives move beyond isolated experimentation and deliver measurable productivity, automation, decision-support and process improvement outcomes. The AI Architect will coordinate progress from initial idea through assessment, pilot and scaled adoption, while formal policy ownership, approvals, funding decisions and implementation accountability remain with the appropriate teams.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
AI Opportunity Discovery and Portfolio Shaping
- Identify opportunities across business functions where AI can improve productivity, efficiency, decision quality, customer or employee experience, and business outcomes.
- Create and maintain a structured inventory of AI opportunities, including business ownership, value hypothesis, users, dependencies, risks, readiness and status.
- Develop and apply intake, scoring and prioritisation methods that consider impact, effort, data readiness, governance complexity, adoption complexity and ownership clarity.
- Partner with business and technology leaders to shape a sequenced AI opportunity roadmap aligned to strategic priorities and enterprise capabilities.
AI Solution Architecture and Design
- Design end-to-end AI solution approaches spanning enterprise applications, data sources, integrations, workflows, user experiences and measurable outcomes.
- Define reusable architecture patterns for AI agents, copilots, (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude, and similar assistants), workflow automation, knowledge discovery, decision support, orchestration and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Document architecture decisions, integration requirements, data dependencies, security considerations, ownership, support models and implementation trade-offs.
- Partner with application owners, data teams and platform teams to embed approved AI capabilities into existing systems and business processes.
Business Process Transformation and Readiness
- Evaluate processes for automation, augmentation, knowledge retrieval, decision support and workflow optimisation opportunities.
- Conduct practical AI readiness assessments across departments, processes and business capabilities.
- Translate broad business challenges into clearly scoped transformation opportunities with defined outcomes, users, constraints, dependencies and adoption needs.
- Create transformation blueprints connecting process improvement, people impacts, application dependencies, data readiness, governance requirements and value measurement.
Responsible AI, Governance and Risk Alignment
- Partner with Security, Legal, Compliance, Data, IT and business owners to align AI initiatives with responsible AI and enterprise governance expectations.
- Embed review checkpoints for privacy, security, data usage, transparency, accountable human oversight, compliance and operational support.
- Document risks, controls, data exposure, approval dependencies and accountable ownership for proposed solutions and tools.
- Promote approved capabilities, reusable patterns and consistent governance routing to reduce fragmented or unmanaged experimentation.
Enablement, Adoption and Value Measurement
- Create playbooks, templates, workshops, demonstrations and best-practice guidance that accelerate responsible AI adoption.
- Help teams understand where AI is appropriate, where added caution is required and which stakeholders must be engaged before a solution is scaled.
- Define and track meaningful outcome measures such as hours saved, cycle-time reduction, quality improvement, cost avoidance, adoption and user feedback.
- Use lessons from pilots and production solutions to improve architecture patterns, governance guidance, enablement materials and roadmap decisions.
Cross-Functional Architecture Leadership
- Facilitate collaboration across IT, Enterprise Applications, Data, Security, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Finance, HR, Engineering and business teams.
- Build alignment around value, feasibility, risk, readiness, reusable patterns, implementation recommendations and measurable next steps.
- Drive progress through influence, structured facilitation, strong documentation and evidence-based architecture recommendations.
- Maintain visibility of the applications, data sources, workflows, integrations and ownership dependencies required to support trusted, scalable AI solutions.
Required Education and Experience
- Demonstrated experience, 8+ years, in enterprise, solution or application architecture, with responsibility for translating business needs into implementable designs.
- Practical experience designing or enabling AI, automation, digital assistant, agent, knowledge or decision-support solutions in an enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of enterprise applications, integrations, APIs, data flows, identity, security, privacy and operational support considerations.
- Experience assessing business processes, shaping transformation roadmaps and building business cases tied to measurable outcomes.
- Working knowledge of responsible AI principles, risk assessment, human oversight and governance review processes.
- Experience creating architecture artefacts, reusable patterns, standards, decision records, playbooks and executive-level recommendations.
- Proven ability to facilitate senior business and technical stakeholders, manage ambiguity and influence decisions without direct authority.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex AI and architecture topics to executive and technical audiences.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant architecture, cloud, data, security or AI certifications, such as TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP architecture certifications.
- Experience working in a global SaaS or software business.
- Experience with enterprise AI platforms, agent or copilot capabilities, workflow automation, knowledge solutions and integration technologies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Business and transformation acumen.
- Enterprise and solution architecture.
- Responsible innovation and sound risk judgement.
- Structured problem solving and prioritisation.
- Executive and technical communication.
- Cross-functional facilitation and stakeholder influence.
- Self-motivation, learning agility and delivery discipline.
