As the VP of Engineering, you will be a core member of OneVest’s executive leadership team, partnering closely with Product, Design, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Solutions to bring our technology vision to life. You will own our multi‑year technology roadmap, lead a growing engineering organization, and ensure we deliver a secure, scalable, and resilient modern wealth‑management platform that delights customers and drives our business forward.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of OneVest’s technology vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and product-led growth plans;
- Oversee the day-to-day management and execution of software development, infrastructure, and technical operations across a modern wealth management platform;
- Manage, grow, and mentor a team of engineers, focusing on team dynamics, professional development, and performance optimization;
- Design and implement scalable, efficient engineering processes, driving continuous improvement in quality, speed, and collaboration within a fast-paced fintech environment;
- Work closely with product managers, design, and customer success teams to ensure engineering efforts align with product and business priorities;
- Establish and oversee a robust quality assurance process, collaborating with QA to improve testing and bug reduction;
- Drive the evolution of the technology stack, managing the balance between technical debt and product delivery;
- Champion modern engineering practices, such as CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps culture across all teams;
- Ensure regulatory compliance, data security, and resiliency practices are embedded into all technical decisions;
- Ensure timely delivery of features and projects while maintaining high-quality standards and managing stakeholder expectations.
Your Skills & Qualifications:
- 15+ years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years in engineering leadership or management roles, ideally in high-growth environments;
- Proven experience scaling engineering teams from 50 to 150+ people while maintaining strong engineering culture and operational efficiency;
- Strong expertise in software development, including experience with backend development, micro-services architecture, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar);
- Deep understanding of modern software development practices, including Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native infrastructure;
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical debt, prioritize competing objectives, and balance short-term delivery with long-term architectural goals;
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to mentor and grow engineering talent;
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working effectively with product, design, and business teams to drive alignment;
- Track record of delivering complex software systems on time, with high quality and customer impact;
- Experience designing and implementing scalable engineering processes to manage large, distributed teams and projects;
- Comfort with ambiguity and experience leading through change in early- to mid-stage startup environments.
