Senior Recruiter (6-month Fixed-term)

Bozeman, Montana, United States

ABOUT onX

As a pioneer in digital outdoor navigation with a suite of apps, onX was founded in Montana, which in turn has inspired our mission to awaken the adventurer inside everyone. With more than 400 employees located around the country working in largely remote / hybrid roles, we have created regional “Basecamps” to help remote employees find connection and inspiration with other onXers. We bring our outdoor passion to work every day, coupling it with industry-leading technology to craft dynamic outdoor experiences.

Through multiple years of growth, we haven’t lost our entrepreneurial ethos at onX. We offer a fast-paced, growing, tech-forward environment where ownership, accountability, and passion for winning as a team are essential. We value diversity and believe it leads to different perspectives and inspires both new adventures and new growth. As a team, we’re hungry to improve, value innovation, and believe great ideas come from any direction.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We’re hiring a Senior Recruiter (6-month Fixed-Term) at a critical moment for the business. Hiring demand has accelerated, and we need an experienced recruiter who can step in immediately and drive results.

This is not a ramp-and-learn role. You’ll take ownership of high-priority searches that are already in motion—bringing focus, momentum, and strong judgment to help teams make high-quality hiring decisions quickly. Success in this role requires the ability to drive alignment, not wait for it, while maintaining a high bar for talent.

This is a 6-month fixed-term role designed for a high-impact operator—someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, brings clarity to ambiguity, and is motivated by delivering meaningful hiring outcomes under pressure. If you’re someone who can step into complexity, quickly assess what matters, and move hiring forward without sacrificing quality, this role is built for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Essential Job Duties & Functions

  • Own and Deliver Hiring Outcomes
      • Take full ownership of a portfolio of high-priority roles, primarily across technical roles
      • Drive searches from in-progress or early-stage to accepted offers—maintaining momentum without lowering the quality bar
      • Balance speed and quality, making thoughtful tradeoffs while keeping hiring teams moving forward
Step In, Assess, and Create Momentum
      • Quickly evaluate active searches to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities
      • Bring structure where needed—clarifying role requirements, aligning stakeholders, and resetting direction when necessary
      • Identify and resolve bottlenecks proactively rather than waiting on others
    Build and Convert High-Quality Pipelines
      • Proactively source and engage strong technical talent using modern tools and creative strategies
      • Maintain consistent pipeline health across roles to avoid stalls or last-minute gaps
      • Assess candidates efficiently while upholding a high bar for quality
    Drive Alignment with Hiring Managers
      • Partner closely with hiring managers—adapting your approach based on their experience and level of alignment
      • Influence decisions and guide teams toward clear, timely outcomes
      • Act as a steady, trusted operator who keeps processes focused and moving
Use AI to Work Smarter and Faster
      • Integrate AI tools into your daily workflow to improve sourcing, research, outreach, and efficiency
      • Apply judgment to validate outputs and ensure quality remains high
      • Continuously explore ways to increase speed and effectiveness through practical experimentation

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • 6+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience within high-growth technology companies.
  • Experience recruiting in startup or scale-up environments, where structure is limited, and priorities shift.
  • Demonstrated experience hiring for technical roles, including software engineering, with a clear understanding of how to assess talent quality.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple concurrent, high-priority searches while maintaining both speed and quality.
  • Strong sourcing capability, with consistent experience building pipelines from scratch for hard-to-fill roles (not primarily reliant on inbound candidates).
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and bringing clarity and structure where needed.
  • Experience working in matrixed organizations, with the ability to influence hiring managers and drive alignment across stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to step into in-progress or undefined searches and quickly drive them to completion.
  • High level of ownership and accountability, with a focus on delivering hiring outcomes—not just managing process.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to improve recruiting efficiency (e.g., sourcing, research, outreach), with sound judgment in evaluating outputs.
  • Must be based in the Pacific or Mountain time zones to ensure strong alignment with hiring teams.
  • A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values.
  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.

ADDED BONUSES

Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:

  • Experience supporting hiring during periods of rapid growth, transformation, or increased demand, where both speed and quality were critical.
  • Background recruiting for consumer-facing or product-led technology companies, particularly in mobile environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to step into unclear or underperforming searches and quickly bring structure, alignment, and results.
  • Strong judgment in making hiring tradeoffs while maintaining a high talent bar under pressure.
  • Track record of improving recruiting efficiency, workflows, or tooling.

THE ONX EXPERIENCE

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.

How do you know if you have a disability?
