WHAT YOU WILL DO
onX is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Representative to drive opportunities in new spaces. In this pivotal role, your mission will be to drive customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth by leveraging your expertise in sales and your passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
This role requires a seasoned sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with Product, Geospatial, Marketing, and Customer Success to align on strategic sales efforts and execute initiatives that position onX as the go-to company for offline mapping solutions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in uncovering business opportunities, a strong ability to build relationships, and a relentless focus on achieving targets.
This opportunity represents an amazing opportunity to join an early-phase business in a financially sound organization while working directly with development to shape the product for the market(s). This position may grow to an account manager or sales manager as target earnings are met.

As an onX Business Development Representative, your essential job duties and responsibilities will look like:
- Conduct high-volume prospecting (telemarketing) to generate qualified leads (between 40 and 60 calls per day).
- Work closely and collaboratively with sales leadership to develop and implement appropriate prospect strategies and plans.
- Build strong relationships with current and potential customers to understand their unique needs and position onX products as solutions.
- Identify new opportunities within the segment and current customers to increase revenue and expand market share.
- Gather and analyze trends, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence to inform sales strategies and product positioning.
- Collaborate with marketing, product, and customer success teams to align sales efforts with broader company goals and ensure seamless customer experiences.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline using CRM Tools, tracking leads, opportunities, and closed deals.
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets and KPIs.
- Act as a voice for the customer within onX, ensuring their needs and feedback are represented in product development and marketing strategies.
- Ability to travel monthly for multiple days to a corporate office, customer site, or other onX strategic location, such as a Basecamp.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- 4+ years of experience in software solution-based sales (where success depended on consultative selling and tailored solutions vs. transactional, one-time, or commodity sales).
- Proven success in selling new products or new business line development, meeting and exceeding sales targets and KPI.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust quickly.
- Strong negotiation and closing abilities.
- Understanding of technical sales cycles and the ability to adapt approaches based on customer needs.
- Results-oriented, self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Enthusiasm for exploring new markets, engaging in discovery processes, aligning product value to customer needs, and have the tenacity to succeed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
ADDED BONUSES
Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:
- Mobile and/or SaaS sales experience is strongly preferred.
- Technical understanding of GIS software, data visualization, and collaborative mapping technology.
WHERE YOU CAN WORK
onX has created a thriving distributed workforce community across several US locations. This position can be performed from an onX corporate office, “Basecamp,” or “Connection Hub”.
- Corporate Offices: onX was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time, this is a great option.
- Basecamps: onX’s Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure.
- Our current Basecamps are located within a 90-mile radius of the following: Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Kalispell, MT; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.
- Connection Hubs: onX’s Connection Hub locations are smaller, emerging communities of distributed team members.
- Our current Connection Hubs are located within a 60-mile radius of the following: Boise, ID; Charleston, SC; Charlotte, NC; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Richmond, VA; Spokane, WA; and Vermont.
HOW YOU’LL BE COMPENSATED
onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $68,000 to $85,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description. This role is also eligible for a Management by Objectives (MBO) incentive, with a target payout based on the achievement of specific individual and/or departmental goals. In addition, full-time onX employees are eligible for a grant of common share options with a vesting schedule and a potential annual bonus of 10% based on company performance.
