ABOUT onX

We’re a team of builders, adventurers, and risk takers using technology to help people confidently explore the outdoors. Driven by our mission to awaken the adventurer inside everyone, we build products that optimize every outdoor experience and inspire confidence to get out and go further.

We’re a high-growth tech company. The pace is fast, the work takes grit, and ambiguity is part of the job. As the world changes around us, we adapt - continuously evolving how we build, prioritize, and deliver.

Our business moves quickly, and there’s real opportunity to shape what we build next. Each of our verticals - Hunt, Offroad, Backcountry, and Fish - is at a different stage of maturity, which means the challenges you encounter and the impact you have will vary depending on where you sit and what the business needs most.

We operate with an experimentation mindset, continually iterating and improving how we solve problems. We expect our people to use the latest tooling, including AI, thoughtfully and responsibly, pairing human judgment with technology to increase quality, speed, and impact.

Our impact comes to life through the products we build, in the stories of our customers, and in our growing commitment to land stewardship and recreational access.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Media Marketing Manager will translate the onX Fish brand and marketing strategy into a distinctive media experience across social, video, audio, and emerging media channels.

This person will create a clear media and editorial vision for onX Fish—what we talk about, how we show up, whose stories we tell, and why anglers should choose to spend time with us even when they are not actively using the product. They will turn TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, podcasts, and future platforms into a connected media ecosystem that builds relevance, community, and long-term affinity for the brand.

This is both a strategic and hands-on individual contributor role. The right person can see what the onX Fish media brand should become, translate broader brand, product, audience, and business priorities into a channel and content strategy, and then actively bring it to life. They will establish programming, formats, creative frameworks, talent approaches, and operating rhythms that enable strong work across teams and make onX Fish recognizable wherever anglers encounter us.

They will also serve as the connective tissue between the national brand and our regional teams—giving Field Reps a strong creative platform while ensuring the people, places, and fishing cultures that make each region distinctive remain at the center of our storytelling. This role reports to the Head of Marketing for Fish.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Essential Job Duties & Functions

Shape the onX Fish Media Brand

  • Define and own the media and editorial vision for onX Fish across social, video, audio, and emerging channels—including the stories, formats, voices, and cultural spaces where the brand can provide distinctive value to anglers, in alignment with broader Fish brand and marketing strategy.
  • Define the role of each channel and build programming that feels native to the platform while creating a recognizable onX Fish identity across the ecosystem.
  • Translate brand, product, audience, and business priorities into media that anglers genuinely want to spend time with—not just promotional content.
  • Make informed tradeoffs across channels, formats, programming, talent, and emerging opportunities, using audience insight, performance data, business priorities, and available resources to determine where onX Fish should invest, experiment, or stay focused elsewhere.

Build Programming That Earns Attention

  • Turn seasonal fishing behavior, audience insights, product moments, and cultural trends into recurring formats, franchises, timely storytelling, education, entertainment, and community content.
  • Own the editorial rhythm from planning through publishing and learning, creating briefs and frameworks that enable great work from Creative, creators, ambassadors, and other contributors.
  • Explore podcasts, audio, video, and emerging formats, identifying where onX Fish should lead, experiment, or stay focused elsewhere.

Bring the Fishing Community Into the Story

  • Build a scalable approach for Field Reps and regional experts to surface the people, places, traditions, and conversations that make their fishing communities distinctive—while strengthening a cohesive national brand.
  • Shape how onX Fish participates in the places anglers already gather online, from comments and groups to creator communities and emerging spaces.
  • Develop a strategic approach to identifying and activating creators, ambassadors, employees, and community voices who can become recurring faces of onX Fish.

Measure, Learn & Evolve

  • Define what success looks like across audience growth, engagement, loyalty, relevance, and business impact, and own organic media performance against those outcomes, in alignment with broader Fish marketing goals.
  • Synthesize performance data, audience behavior, and community feedback into clear insights about what’s working, why it’s working, and informed decisions about what to scale, change, stop, or test next.
  • Experiment with AI and emerging tools to improve how the team discovers insights, develops ideas, creates content, and learns from performance, applying new approaches where they materially improve quality, speed, or effectiveness.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • 7+ years of experience in organic social, media, content, or editorial marketing, with a track record of building and growing a distinctive brand presence across multiple channels.
  • Hands-on experience owning social and media strategy across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and/or podcasts, including developing recurring programming—not just individual posts or campaigns.
  • Strong editorial and creative judgment, paired with experience using audience and performance data to make better programming decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence and bring cross-functional teams, creators, and contributors around a shared creative direction and prioritize among competing opportunities without relying on formal authority.
  • Ability to move comfortably between strategy and hands-on execution, bringing structure and momentum to an evolving media ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI and emerging technologies to media or creative workflows to accelerate insights, strengthen content development, or improve how work gets done.
  • Familiarity with fishing, outdoor culture, or another enthusiast-driven community is strongly preferred; deep curiosity and the ability to build credibility with anglers are essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX
  • A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values.
  • Ability to travel up to quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location, such as a Basecamp.

Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:
