Product Launch Manager

Bozeman, Montana, United States; Missoula, Montana, United States; Open to Remote

ABOUT onX

We’re a team of builders, adventurers, and risk takers using technology to help people confidently explore the outdoors. Driven by our mission to awaken the adventurer inside everyone, we build products that optimize every outdoor experience and inspire confidence to get out and go further.

We’re a high-growth tech company. The pace is fast, the work takes grit, and ambiguity is part of the job. As the world changes around us, we adapt - continuously evolving how we build, prioritize, and deliver.

Our business moves quickly, and there’s real opportunity to shape what we build next. Each of our verticals - Hunt, Offroad, Backcountry, and Fish - is at a different stage of maturity, which means the challenges you encounter and the impact you have will vary depending on where you sit and what the business needs most.

We operate with an experimentation mindset, continually iterating and improving how we solve problems. We expect our people to use the latest tooling, including AI, thoughtfully and responsibly, pairing human judgment with technology to increase quality, speed, and impact.

Our impact comes to life through the products we build, in the stories of our customers, and in our growing commitment to land stewardship and recreational access.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

onX is seeking a Product Launch Manager to help bring an exciting new connected product experience to market, designed to work seamlessly with the onX Hunt app and create new possibilities for our customers.

This role will play a key part in bringing that experience to life, independently driving launch execution from beta through broader availability. You'll coordinate across engineering, operations, marketing, and customer experience, keeping timelines, dependencies, and teams aligned as we navigate the complexities of a new product launch.

Working closely with leadership, you'll translate launch plans into coordinated action, proactively identifying risks, navigating day-to-day challenges, and helping teams stay focused on shared milestones. As onX expands into new product experiences, you'll have the opportunity to apply lessons learned, improve launch processes, and help establish a strong foundation for future launches.

This role reports to the Director of Connected Devices.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Essential Job Duties & Functions

  • Own and manage the end-to-end launch timeline, milestones, and deliverables across hardware, software, marketing, operations, and customer experience.
  • Coordinate launch activities from beta through broader availability, ensuring key milestones and dependencies are aligned across teams.
  • Partner with manufacturing partners to coordinate production timelines and ensure internal teams are prepared for critical launch milestones.
  • Proactively identify, track, and manage cross-functional dependencies, risks, and potential roadblocks to keep launch activities on track.
  • Drive day-to-day launch execution, ensuring teams have clear ownership, priorities, and accountability for their deliverables.
  • Monitor launch readiness and progress, identifying gaps and working with cross-functional partners to address issues before they impact timelines.
  • Facilitate clear, consistent communication across stakeholders, providing visibility into launch status, key decisions, risks, and upcoming milestones.
  • Navigate day-to-day execution challenges independently, escalating complex trade-offs or competing priorities that require broader leadership alignment.
  • Demonstrate onX's Company Values by fostering accountability, building trust across cross-functional teams, and proactively addressing challenges to keep launch activities moving forward.
  • Look for opportunities to embed AI as a repeatable co-pilot in daily workflows, integrating experimentation into real work and refining its use with sound judgment and validation.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in program management, project management, product launches, or related work involving complex, cross-functional initiatives.
    • Experience with physical or hardware products is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently coordinate multiple workstreams, manage competing deadlines, and drive projects toward successful completion.
  • Strong project management skills, including timeline development, milestone tracking, dependency management, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, building alignment, and driving accountability without direct authority.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges, work through day-to-day obstacles, and recognize when issues require escalation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate progress, risks, and priorities to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt to evolving priorities, and maintain momentum in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to thoughtfully explore and apply AI tools to streamline launch planning, track dependencies, improve stakeholder communication, and enhance day-to-day execution, while exercising sound judgment and validating outputs.
  • A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values.
  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.
  • Ability to travel up to quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location, such as a Basecamp.

ADDED BONUSES

Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:

  • Experience supporting the launch of a new physical product or product category, particularly from beta through commercial availability.
  • Experience with devices or products that integrate hardware, software, and subscription or membership services.
  • Experience coordinating production schedules, launch milestones, and dependencies with overseas manufacturing partners.

THE ONX EXPERIENCE

onX is a distributed company with more than 400 employees across the country. We come together regularly to work in person and stay connected through regional basecamps and a culture that balances individual ownership with deep collaboration.

While we move quickly, we’re not a scrappy start-up. We operate with clear goals, structure, and frameworks that guide how we prioritize and execute. Priorities matter. While they may shift, data shapes how we evolve as our business, products, and the world around us change.

You’ll partner closely with others to solve complex problems and build solutions that scale across teams and platforms. Along the way, you’ll be supported with feedback, tools, and opportunities to grow your craft as you take on new challenges.
