We’re building Onyx in New York with a small team, serious momentum, and no interest in moving slowly. The product is live. The market is growing. The category is still ours to define.

The Role.

We’re hiring a Frontend Software Engineer to build the interfaces customers use to discover markets, take positions, and follow what happens next.

Our frontend stack is primarily TypeScript and React, supported by Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS, and real-time data systems. You’ll work closely with product, design, backend engineering, data, and trading to turn complex market mechanics into experiences that feel fast, clear, and intuitive.

This is not a role where you’ll maintain a component library from the sidelines. You’ll own important product areas from initial concept through production, influence frontend architecture, and ship directly to a rapidly growing customer base. Your work will be visible, your responsibilities will expand quickly, and you’ll have a meaningful voice in both the product and how we build it.

What You’ll Own:

• Build and ship customer-facing web experiences using TypeScript and React.
• Develop intuitive experiences across market discovery, trading, positions, balances, payments, and settlement.
• Build responsive interfaces powered by live prices, market updates, and real-time activity.
• Own features from technical design through testing, release, monitoring, and iteration.
• Translate complex trading concepts into simple, engaging product experiences.
• Build reusable components and contribute to a scalable design system.
• Establish frontend architecture and engineering patterns that support rapid development.
• Integrate APIs, authentication, payments, analytics, and third-party services.
• Improve performance, accessibility, reliability, testing, and deployment.
• Partner with product and design to deliver polished experiences across browsers, devices, and screen sizes.

• Have 3+ years of professional frontend or full-stack engineering experience.
• Are highly proficient in TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
• Have built and maintained customer-facing production applications.
• Understand frontend architecture, state management, data fetching, testing, and performance.
• Have experience with APIs, real-time data, authentication, and third-party SDKs.
• Build responsive, accessible interfaces with strong attention to detail.
• Can independently own complex features from idea through production.
• Move quickly while maintaining a high bar for quality and customer experience.

• Built products in trading, crypto, payments, prediction markets, gaming, or consumer fintech.
• Experience with WebSockets, live market data, streaming systems, or transaction-based applications.
• Built data visualizations, charts, trading interfaces, or interactive dashboards.
• Experience with Next.js, design systems, and component libraries.
• Familiarity with Node.js and backend development.
• Helped scale a high-traffic consumer application during rapid growth.

• This role is based in our NoHo, Manhattan office, with core in-office days Tuesday through Thursday.

Compensation and Benefits:

• The anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000–$200,000, depending on experience, impact, and scope, plus a target bonus and equity.
