Head of Pricing, Forecasting & Optimization
Are you passionate about leveraging cutting-edge models and algorithms to shape the future of pricing in a dynamic industry? As the Head of Pricing, Forecasting & Optimization at Opendoor, you will be at the forefront of creating and refining the algorithmic pricing models that build and manage our portfolio of billions of dollars of homes at scale. Your work will directly drive a significant portion of the company’s P&L and define the future of real estate pricing at scale.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead pricing innovation: Own and develop pricing algorithms for macro nowcasting, resale strategies, multi-horizon portfolio optimization and risk management across the real estate landscape.
- Shape the technical strategy: Set and execute a vision that integrates engineering, research, and analytics to fuel company-wide portfolio construction and management strategies.
- Collaborate at the highest levels: Partner with executives and investment leaders to align pricing strategies with business goals, driving profitability and growth.
- Build and lead a top-tier team: Grow and mentor a team of scientists and engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and high judgment.
- Deliver impact: Be accountable for pricing models that boost revenue, enhance margins, and mitigate risks, driving meaningful bottom-line results.
What We’re Looking For:
- Expertise in Pricing and Optimization:
- 12+ years of experience developing end-to-end forecasting and optimization algorithms.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing data-driven products or enterprises.
- Knowledge of advanced techniques, including convex optimization (hedonic pricing, portfolio optimization), stochastic processes (price fluctuation modeling), and optimal control (dynamic real estate pricing).
- Technical and Academic Acumen:
- MS or PhD preferred, with expertise in areas such as econometrics, applied statistics, or computational finance.
- Collaborative Leadership: Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and operations teams to set and execute strategies that drive business impact.
Compensation:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The U.S. pay range for this position is $313,000-392,000 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. We also offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, 12 paid holidays per year, medical/dental/vision insurance, basic life insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
