Vice President of Design & Product Operations:

Are you a strategic design leader who thrives at the intersection of creative excellence, operational rigor, and cross-functional impact? At Opendoor, we’re looking for a Vice President of Design & Product Operations to shape the future of how people buy and sell homes, by elevating design quality, optimizing product operations, and driving alignment across a fast-paced, multi-product environment.

This role goes beyond aesthetics, it’s about embedding design at the core of our strategy and driving the lifecycle of strategy to execution. You’ll drive a vision that balances innovation with usability, creating seamless experiences across a complex, multi-product ecosystem. You’ll lead a high-performing team of product designers, researchers, and content designers, championing quality and consistency while fostering a culture of curiosity, inclusivity, and impact. In close partnership with Product, Engineering, and Marketing, you’ll elevate design as a strategic advantage that defines the future of real estate. Role Responsibilities:

  • Shape the future of how people buy and sell homes through exceptional design & product operations leadership.
  • Lead and inspire a talented design team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering leaders to define the overall product roadmap and strategy.
  • Shape and drive company-wide OKR processes, help strike a balance between autonomy for teams and alignment.
  • Drive product operations excellence, enabling teams to operate with speed, efficiency, accountability, and agility.
  • Help the executive team manage and inspect allocation of resources and budget.
  • Optimize product & design processes and tools to ensure best practices are consistent and aligned.
  • Ensure customer insights are central to product operations, influencing design, development, and launch strategies.
  • Champion a user-centered approach, ensuring our products are intuitive, accessible, and delightful.
  • Roll up your sleeves and contribute to design execution when needed, setting a high bar for quality.
  • Mentor and grow design talent, empowering individuals to reach their full potential.
  • Be a visible and influential leader, advocating for the power of design across Opendoor.

Skills & Experience:

  • Deep background in design leadership with a proven track record of building and scaling design teams.
  • Strong experience in influencing product strategy and driving company-wide initiatives.
  • A passion for understanding user needs and translating them into impactful product experiences.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire and align cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • A portfolio that showcases your leadership and design capabilities.

Bonus Points if you have,

  • Real estate or other complex, multi-sided marketplaces

Compensation:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The U.S. base pay range for this position is $266,400-$333,000 annually plus a competitive bonus plan and equity package. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We also offer a comprehensive package of benefits including flexible time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, basic life insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
