The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) – Accounting plays a vital role in financial reporting, accounting analysis, and decision support. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial statements, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and facilitating the annual external audit and income tax return preparation. Additionally, the SFA helps enhance and maintain internal controls while overseeing key accounting processes such as inventory management and Bill of Materials (BOM) maintenance. This role collaborates closely with Accounting, FP&A, cross-functional teams, and external partners to drive financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
In this role you will:
- Financial Reporting – Month-End & Year-End Close
- Support month-end, and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and supporting schedules, and journal entries.
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of the month end budget to actual analysis.
- Annual External Audit & Income Tax Returns
- Coordinate and manage the annual financial audit process, acting as the key liaison between the company and external auditors.
- Prepare and review audit schedules, workpapers, and reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Assist in drafting financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures in compliance with ASPE.
- Address auditor inquiries, provide supporting documentation, and resolve audit findings in a timely manner.
- Support the preparation and review of corporate tax returns, including gathering necessary financial data for tax filings.
- Inventory & Bill of Materials (BOM) Maintenance
- Ensure accurate inventory costing is applied within NetSuite.
- Oversee inventory reconciliation performed by operations, to ensure accuracy and help resolve discrepancies.
- Support the maintenance and accuracy of the Bill of Materials (BOM), ensuring correct cost allocations.
- Collaborate with operations to improve inventory controls and reporting.
- Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Evaluate and enhance internal controls to ensure financial reporting accuracy and compliance.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to streamline audit preparation and financial reporting procedures.
- All other duties, as assigned
We’re paw-sitively excited about you because you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
- 2-3 years of experience in public accounting.
- CPA certification (completed or in progress).
- Experience with a Big Four Accounting Firm is a plus.
- Required two or three days in Downtown Toronto office.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
- Proficiency in NetSuite ERP is a plus.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with auditors, tax advisors, and internal teams.

Hybrid Work
At Open Farm, we believe in the power of collaboration, meaningful connections, and enjoying our work together—furry friends included! That’s why we’ve adopted a structured hybrid approach that allows you the benefit of a reduced commute while still building strong workplace relationships. Currently, all employees are expected to be in the office two days per week at minimum, with Tuesday and Thursday as our anchor days. In addition to this, each month our Leadership team dedicates three consecutive days onsite to continue to foster alignment and connection across the team. During this time we expect everyone to join us in person to do the same. Please note: our hybrid approach may evolve over time as we adapt to the needs of our team and business.
