Role Overview
We are seeking a Manager / Senior Manager, Packaging Procurement to join our Operations team. The Manager / Senior Manager, Packaging Procurement will report to the Vice President of Operations, and drive strategic sourcing, supplier partnerships, cost optimization, and production planning across Open Farm's packaging portfolio. Primary focus will be on flexible packaging, stand-up pouches, corrugated boxes, and other packaging materials. This individual will own category strategy, lead supplier negotiations, manage RFQ processes, and collaborate with planning and logistics colleagues to balance cost, quality, and supply chain resilience while supporting production timelines and inventory efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for packaging categories, including competitive bidding, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation to optimize cost while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
- Own the packaging production plan, working closely with the supply planning team to forecast packaging needs across product categories and order packaging in line with production lead times and inventory strategy.
- Lead supplier relationship management for key packaging vendors, negotiating terms, volumes, and pricing; conduct periodic business reviews to ensure performance alignment and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
- Lead packaging transition projects from the procurement side, managing RFQs, supplier qualification, tooling costs, and timeline coordination with Marketing, Operations, and internal stakeholders.
- Analyze spend patterns, market pricing trends, and supplier performance; identify and implement cost savings initiatives, process improvements, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Monitor supplier compliance, quality metrics, and delivery performance; escalate and resolve supply disruptions to maintain continuity of production.
- Utilize procurement systems and tools to manage RFQs, contracts, and performance metrics; generate reports on category spending, supplier performance, and cost savings.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 5–10 years of procurement or sourcing experience, with emphasis on packaging materials categories.
- Proven experience in CPG, food & beverage, or pet food manufacturing (preferred).
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cost optimization and sourcing initiatives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems; NetSuite experience a plus.
- CIPS, CSCP, CSCMP, or APICS certification preferred.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

Compensation:
The hiring range for this role is $85,000–$115,000 CAD annually, with final compensation thoughtfully aligned to your experience, skills, and the value you bring. At Open Farm, we know great people don’t always fit a mold, so role scope and compensation may evolve to reflect your unique strengths. This position may also include additional rewards such as performance-based bonuses and other incentives.
