Role Overview
We are seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the design and implementation of our ledger and reconciliation systems as part of Settlements team. This is a foundational role in our journey to handle multi-billion-dollar monthly volumes with uncompromising accuracy, visibility, and resilience. You will be responsible for architecting ledger platform for multiple currencies, banks, and geographies, with deep integration into our event-sourced infrastructure. This is a high-ownership, in-office Bangalore position where correctness, performance, and observability are paramount.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ledger Architecture & Development: Design and implement distributed ledger services for settlements, balances, and reconciliation, with per-currency, per-bank, and per-geography granularity.
- Reconciliation Engine: Build a robust reconciliation platform for stablecoins and fiat, ensuring automated detection and resolution of mismatches.
- Scalability & Performance: Engineer systems capable of supporting high-throughput transaction processing with strict SLAs.
- Observability & Reliability: Implement comprehensive logging, metrics, and tracing to ensure strong operational visibility and rapid incident resolution.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product, operations, and compliance to align ledger capabilities with regulatory and business requirements.
What we are looking for
Must haves:
- 7–9 years of backend engineering experience with Rust, Go, and/or TypeScript.
- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, event-sourcing, and high-throughput financial systems.
- Proven experience owning and scaling financial ledger systems in production.
- Strong background in building reliable, distributed systems with fault-tolerance in mind.
- Advanced knowledge of observability tooling (metrics, tracing, logging) and operational excellence practices.
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to work in a high-accountability, fast-paced environment.
What helps you stand out:
- Prior experience in high-volume fintech, banking, or payment infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with multi-currency and multi-entity ledger reconciliation.
- Contributions to architectural decisions in scaling transaction systems to billions in volume.
- Strong understanding of compliance and audit needs for regulated financial systems.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and cross-functional discussions.
