As a Software Engineer with Nextdoor, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) (100% Telecommuting permitted) you’ll:
● Work with cross-functional and agile teams to translate product requirements into user-facing applications to
support company growth.
● Work with product managers and designers to gather requirements and mockups and implement those features via
code.
● Develop application programming interfaces (APIs) to allow advertisers to control all their ad campaigns from
one place.
● Architect and design cloud services that are robust and scalable enough to handle thousands of users at once.
● Design and optimize database schemas.
● Write complex SQL queries and fine-tuning Postgres database performance.
● Optimize applications for improved performance and scalability, ensuring seamless user experience.
● Develop automated tests to improve overall team performance and deployment reliability.
What You’ll Bring to The House
● Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or closely
related field.
● Five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the position offered or as a Software Development
Engineer, or closely related position.
● Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree and three (3) years of experience in the position offered or
as a Software Development Engineer, or closely related position. Any suitable combination of education,
training, or experience is acceptable.
● Must have experience in the following: Utilizing Agile and software development processes at all levels of
software delivery lifecycle (requirements gathering, documentation, design, development, code review, testing
and production support); Utilizing Application Programming Interfaces (API) to design, develop and add new
features/API to the application/platform following design patterns and best practices; Utilizing Database
modeling/design tools, such as Postgres and DynamoDB, to design and implement new data models to support the
backend product requirements; Utilizing Amazon Cloud Services and Kubernetes to operate and manage critical
scalable cloud services infrastructure; Developing software for large-scale and distributed system services;
Utilizing Structured Query Language (SQL) for data mining and manipulation, analysis, and modeling of data sets
to ensure data is reliable in Software Platform; Utilizing Object-Oriented and Programming Languages, Java, and
Kotlin to build software; and Utilizing algorithms and data structures to write unit tests for code and services.

The starting salary for this role is expected to be: $206,315/year.
We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would
be within the first 3 months of your start date.
Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
