Meet your Future Neighbors
As a Data Scientist 4 with Nextdoor, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) (Multiple Positions Open) (100% Telecommuting permitted) you’ll:
- Develop and implement analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software.
- Apply data mining and data modeling to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
- Run experiments efficiently and accurately, including monitoring early feature development through tracking post-release follow-ups.
- Develop and share key strategic insights through data analysis, evaluating the performance and impact of the product team.
- Conduct causal inference studies to deeply understand Company’s user behavior and acquisition pattern.
- Build scalable metrics and dashboards to inform product strategy.
- Collaborate with leaders across operations, engineering, product, and marketing, to identify the most impactful ways for analytics to drive decision making and accelerate growth.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support product development efforts (including product, design, engineering, marketing, and operations).
- Conduct deep-dive and root cause analyses to identify new opportunities as well as bugs in the system, influencing stakeholders in roadmap discussions and prioritizing important initiatives.
What You’ll Bring to The House
- Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or closely related quantitative discipline.
- Three (3) years of experience in the position offered or as a Data/Product Analyst, or closely related position in data sciences.
- Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in the fields above followed by five (5) years of progressive, post-bachelor’s experience in positions specified above.
- Must have experience in the following: Utilizing statistical hypothesis testing to design and run experiments that test the statistical significance of changes in the product on key performance metrics; Utilizing SQL for data mining and manipulation, analysis, and modeling of data sets to ensure data is reliable to support business growth; Utilizing Python techniques to perform data migration tasks, including data extraction, transformation and loading; Evaluating model performance and providing actionable recommendations to optimize product initiatives; Conducting in-depth data exploration and analysis to uncover patterns, trends and anomalies; Utilizing data visualization tools, including Tableau and Looker, to generate reports and build dashboards of business metrics for campaign KPI’s and analyze data and create data insights; and Presenting key findings and business insights to stakeholders.

The starting salary for this role is expected to be: $206,400 - $236,000/year.
We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.
Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
