About the job

OpenTable is looking for an Associate Manager, Accounting to own the accounting processes supporting our Marketing organization, partnering closely with Marketing, Commercial, FP&A, Legal, and other Finance teams to ensure accurate accounting, strong controls, and scalable month-end execution. The role combines operational accounting, technical accounting judgment, process improvement, and cross-functional business partnership, with an understanding of ASC 606 to assess the downstream accounting implications of commercial and marketing initiatives.

This is an Associate Manager–level individual contributor role with significant ownership and influence. You’ll lead complex accounting workstreams, streamline processes, and build strong partnerships across the business. It’s built for someone with sound judgment, technical accounting expertise, and a continuous improvement mindset who can independently drive execution, communicate clearly, and improve how work gets done. • Partner with Marketing, Commercial, FP&A, Legal, and other cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate new initiatives, contracts, and campaigns, providing accounting guidance and ensuring appropriate accounting outcomes.

  • Apply knowledge of ASC 606 to assess whether marketing arrangements have revenue recognition implications, including customer incentives, promotional programs, and commercial agreements.

  • Manage month-end close activities across the Marketing portfolio, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, accruals, and balance sheet integrity.

  • Prepare technical accounting documentation, accounting position papers, and process documentation while supporting internal controls and responding to internal and external audit requests.

  • Identify, lead, and implement process improvements that strengthen controls, reduce manual effort, and improve scalability through automation, system enhancements, and AI-enabled workflows.

  • Organize and lead cross-functional initiatives, building productive relationships with Finance, Marketing, Commercial, Product, Legal, Operations, and other business partners.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong knowledge of US GAAP.

  • Experience applying technical accounting guidance, including familiarity with ASC 606 and evaluating accounting implications of commercial arrangements.

  • ACA, ACCA, CA or CPA designation.

  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including complex financial models, lookups, and pivot tables.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in public accounting or a large multinational finance organization.

  • Experience partnering with Marketing or other corporate functions in a business-facing accounting role.

  • Proficiency with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.

  • Experience leveraging AI, automation, or workflow tools to improve accounting processes, scalability, and control quality.

The best connections happen face-to-face, whether you’re sitting down to dinner or having coffee with a coworker. That’s why OpenTable has adopted a hybrid workplace model. This role aligns with that approach, with an expectation of coming into the office two days a week—giving employees the best of both worlds: in-person collaboration and flexibility.

Work Environment & Flexibility

At OpenTable, we pride ourselves on fostering a global and dynamic work environment. As a team member with us, you will benefit from a schedule tailored to accommodate a global workforce operating across multiple time zones. While the majority of your responsibilities may align with conventional business hours, there will be instances where you are expected to manage communications - via calls, Slack messages, or emails - outside of regular working hours to effectively collaborate with international colleagues, respond to restaurant partners, and/or address urgent matters. OpenTable will always abide by and consider local laws and regulations.

Inclusion

We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong and can thrive. We know the best ideas come when we bring different voices to the table, so we're building a team as dynamic as the diners and restaurants we serve—and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcome to be themselves.

If you need any reasonable adjustments during the application/interview process, or on the job, we’re here to support you. Please reach out to your recruiter to request any accommodations.
