POSITION OVERVIEW

The mission for the Engineering Ecosystem Org at Oportun is to be the force-multiplicative Org that empowers engineers to deliver member value with high-speed and high-quality. Teams in this Org play a vital role in designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge software solutions that power our mission and advance our business. We strike a balance between leveraging leading tools and developing in-house solutions to create member experiences that empower their financial independence. As a Staff Technical Program Manager at Oportun, you will be responsible to drive key technical programs. You will also own automating information flow pipelines that reduces friction in information flow to the right stakeholders with the right level of information and details. In addition, you will own driving complex technical projects, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, and delivering high-quality results on time and within budget. You will innovate and think out of the box to help improve productivity of the company while constantly learning and growing to reduce toil via automation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage multiple complex technical programs from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, marketing, legal, compliance, security, risk and operations to define program scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Develop detailed program plans, schedules, and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives and priorities.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and dependencies, ensuring timely resolution of issues and roadblocks.
  • Communicate program status, progress, and challenges to stakeholders at all levels, providing clear and concise updates and reports.
  • Drive continuous improvement in program management processes and practices, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and collaboration across teams.
  • Mentor and support junior program managers, sharing knowledge and best practices for effective program management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in technical program management, with a focus on large-scale, complex programs.
  • Strong technical background with a deep understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering technical programs on time and within budget.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with Agile and/or Scrum methodologies is highly desirable.
