POSITION OVERVIEW
The Sr. FinOps Analyst will play a key role in managing and optimizing Oportun’s technology-related spend. This role will support Financial Operations (FinOps) by providing insights, analysis, and process improvements to ensure efficient use of cloud, software, and infrastructure resources. The Sr. FinOps Analyst will partner closely with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) during monthly finance cycles and perform select accounting duties related to technology and software expenses. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is essential, and experience with tools such as Adaptive Insights, Workday, Ironclad, or similar financial management platforms is highly desirable. By ensuring accuracy, transparency, and cost effectiveness in technology financial management, this role directly supports Oportun’s mission of delivering affordable, responsible financial services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide monthly reports on technology spend to stakeholders, including Technology, Security, Product, and Finance teams, highlighting key areas of focus and trends.
- Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing, Corporate Contracts, and Finance to forecast and track technology and software spending.
- Partner with enterprise architecture teams to develop and implement cloud financial governance policies, budgets, and controls to ensure ongoing cost optimization.
- Engage accountable stakeholders to promote and enforce adherence to committed cost optimization and savings goals.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards based on defined measures, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Execute the vision for cost optimization, aligning initiatives with business objectives to maximize value for the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related Business Management field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in financial operations.
- Strong background in financial operations with knowledge of vendor management and contract negotiations.
- Understanding of cloud governance, risk management, and compliance, with the ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills grounded in logical analysis.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with experience presenting progress and results to leadership teams.
- Ability to adapt communication style for technical and non-technical audiences, including executives, and an understanding of the organizational impact of messaging.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, balancing deadlines, projects, and day-today responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- FinOps Certified Practitioner credential.
- Strong experience in technology finance roles spanning both Finance and Technology organizations.
- Proficiency with financial and operational tools such as Adaptive Insights, Workday, Ironclad, Strategic Sourcing, or similar platforms
