The Opportunity

The Engineering Ecosystem Org exists to help engineers deliver member value with high speed and high quality. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, build, and operate scalable platform services and shared libraries that improve developer productivity, system reliability, and delivery velocity. In your first year, success means delivering complex platform capabilities end-to-end, contributing to architecture decisions, and raising engineering quality through strong technical practices and mentorship.

What You'll Do

Your day-to-day

• You'll design, build, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, reliable platform services and shared libraries.
• You'll contribute to platform and system architecture decisions with a focus on reliability, scalability, and developer experience.
• You'll write high-quality, maintainable code and model strong engineering best practices.
• You'll collaborate with Staff Engineers and peers to implement standards and patterns that support Continuous Delivery.
• You'll identify and address performance, scalability, and reliability issues across platform services.
• You'll participate actively in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions, providing thoughtful and constructive feedback.
• You'll drive operational excellence by improving monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices.
• You'll investigate root causes of production issues and implement long-term fixes to reduce on-call burden.
• You'll mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
• You'll partner with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions that create measurable business and customer value.
• You'll bring ideas for how we can do things better - proactively, not just when asked.
• You'll look for ways to use AI tools thoughtfully - to work smarter, reduce manual work, and make better decisions faster.

What You Bring

Skills & experience

Required

• You'll have 7-8 years of related software engineering experience with a bachelor's degree, or a master's degree with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• You've demonstrated strong experience in software development focused on backend systems and services.
• You bring proficiency in Java, C#, C++, or similar backend languages, with strong knowledge of software design principles, data structures, and algorithms.
• You have experience building and operating scalable, reliable, and secure systems, including 3+ years designing, building, deploying, and maintaining container-based applications.
• You bring 4+ years of experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• You have experience with Continuous Delivery practices and automated deployment pipelines.
• You have strong problem-solving and debugging skills, effective communication and collaboration skills, and experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team-level technical leadership.
• You bring working knowledge of secure development practices and security considerations in distributed systems.

Nice to Have

• Experience in financial services or the fintech industry.
• Familiarity with shared platforms, distributed systems, developer productivity, or engineering ecosystem practices.

• You've used AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar to improve your own productivity.
