The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, FP&A – Loan Portfolio & Revenue to own and evolve Oportun’s revenue forecasting and lending portfolio planning capabilities. You’ll build and improve sophisticated financial models, translate complex operating and credit trends into clear insights, and help senior leaders understand the risks, opportunities, and drivers behind long-term business performance.

This role sits at the intersection of FP&A, Credit, Product, Data, Accounting, and Operations. Success in the first year means establishing a trusted and scalable revenue forecasting process, improving visibility into lending portfolio performance, and strengthening the quality of forward-looking analysis used by senior leadership and the Board.

At Oportun, we move fast and we hold each other to a high bar. If you care about doing your best work while actually moving the needle for real people, you'll fit right in.

What You'll Do

Your day-to-day

  • You’ll own the development, maintenance, and enhancement of comprehensive revenue forecasting models, including drivers, scenarios, sensitivities, and long-range planning.
  • You’ll manage lending portfolio balance and roll-forward models covering originations, repayments, prepayments, charge-offs, loss curves, delinquency trends, and related credit-performance assumptions.
  • You’ll partner with Credit, Product, Data, Accounting, Operations, and business leaders to improve forecast inputs, understand performance trends, and identify emerging risks and opportunities.
  • You’ll lead strategic financial analysis to support business planning, capital allocation, growth initiatives, pricing, product decisions, partnerships, and potential M&A opportunities.
  • You’ll develop clear forecast narratives and communicate key drivers, variances, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
  • You’ll prepare high-quality materials for executive, investor, and Board discussions, translating complex financial and operating topics into concise, decision-ready insights.
  • You’ll improve the scalability, transparency, governance, and documentation of financial models and planning processes.
  • You’ll automate analyses and improve modeling workflows to increase efficiency, consistency, and confidence in forecast outputs.
  • You’ll help evaluate and support the migration of core planning models into enterprise forecasting platforms such as Anaplan or Pigment where appropriate.
  • You’ll mentor and develop finance team members as the FP&A organization grows.
  • You’ll bring ideas for how we can improve forecasting, planning, modeling, and financial decision-making across the organization.
  • You’ll look for practical ways to use AI and automation to accelerate analysis, improve model validation, strengthen documentation, and surface insights faster.
  • You'll look for ways to use AI tools thoughtfully — to work smarter, reduce manual work, and make better decisions faster

Who You Are

The right fit looks like this

You’re a strategic finance leader who combines deep analytical rigor with strong business judgment. You’re equally comfortable building detailed forecast logic, challenging assumptions, and explaining the resulting story to senior executives.

You’re naturally curious about what is driving performance and what might happen next. You know how to work through ambiguity, connect financial and operating signals, and turn complex analysis into clear recommendations.

You also build strong partnerships across functions and are comfortable influencing decisions without relying on direct authority.

You're comfortable navigating complexity and don't wait for perfect information to move forward. You communicate clearly, give direct feedback, and expect the same in return.

What You Bring

Skills & experience

  • Experience with portfolio balances, roll-forwards, loss curves, charge-offs, delinquency trends, and credit-performance assumptions.
  • Strong experience using data to understand business performance, evaluate scenarios, and identify forward-looking risks and opportunities.
  • Experience using SQL, Python, R, dbt, or similar tools to automate, validate, or analyze financial models.
  • Proven ability to translate complex financial analysis into clear recommendations for executive and Board-level audiences.
  • Experience preparing senior leadership or Board materials, including forecast updates, financial-performance presentations, and strategic analyses.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to partner effectively across Finance, Credit, Product, Operations, Data, and executive leadership.

  • MBA, CFA, CPA, or similar advanced credential.
  • Experience using AI-enabled finance, analytics, or productivity tools to improve forecasting, analysis, documentation, or decision-making.
  • You've used AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) to improve your own productivity

Our AI Mindset

We build with AI. We lead with judgment.

AI isn't a feature here. It's how we work.

We're excited about what AI makes possible, and we're looking for people who share that curiosity. You don't need to be an expert. You need to be open to experimenting, willing to learn, and able to apply new tools in ways that actually move the needle.

In this role, you'll be encouraged to explore AI tools, find practical use cases for your function, and bring ideas for working smarter. We believe the best outcomes come when human judgment and AI capability work together.
