Sustainability Account Executive

Optera builds software to help the world’s largest companies stop climate change. Our business is growing faster than ever, and we are looking for a core sales team member to join our Go-to-Market Team. 

We are looking for someone with corporate sustainability/GHG accounting expertise who can lead  sales with large, complex corporate clients. This role manages sales opportunities from deal creation to closure, ensuring buy-in from stakeholders across the organization to address business needs and deliver client value. We are looking for someone who is driven to succeed and can develop strong relationships with business leaders and executives.

The role and responsibilities

  • Effectively qualify leads and identify prospects’ needs using product and industry understanding to illustrate the value proposition of Optera software and services
  • Educate prospects throughout the sales process on the nuances and complexities of carbon accounting and sustainability program development
  • Align internal resources to demonstrate Optera’s value to the client and navigate clients through the full sales cycle from discovery call through contracting
  • Manage complex RFPs across a large number of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strategically manage a sales pipeline in the CRM system to provide timely and accurate sales activity tracking and status updates along with sales forecasts and metrics
  • Work effectively with the  sales development lead to execute on strategies to build inbound deal pipeline
  • Be a voice of corporate sustainability/GHG accounting expertise both internally and with sales prospects
  • Foster collaboration between Marketing, Sales, Services and Product functions (i.e. relay market intel, insight on buyer challenges/opportunities, product feedback, test messages, etc.)
  • Facilitate client transfer to the Services team

Your experience

  • Domain knowledge of the carbon accounting and corporate sustainability space. This is a must, and we’re open to domain experts looking to move into sales
  • Proven success leading  complex SaaS sales, often through RFPs and corporate procurement processes
  • Highly responsible, self-motivated and able to deliver results with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional business writing and presentation development skills

Location: : Remote (US and Canada) with optional office in Boulder, Colorado

Position: Full time

Base Salary: $85,000 - $105,000 USD / $102,000 - $127,000 CAD plus option for equity

Sales Incentive Plan with On Target Earnings (fully ramped): $165,000 - $185,000 USD / $209,000 - $234,000 CAD with uncapped commissions
