Why this opportunity? 

Our business is growing faster than ever, and we are looking for an experienced Sustainability Project Director to join our Sales & Service team to support delivery of integrated software and consulting services. This role will be responsible for supporting our expert consulting and implementation teams, contributing to the development of Optera’s vision and strategy, as well as the tactics to implement these initiatives. You’ll need experience with sustainability and client/project management, but we’ll teach you the ins/outs of delivering our unique SaaS package. The Role and Responsibilities 

  • Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with enterprise clients. Serve as a trusted advisor to select clients, understand their unique ESG challenges, and advocate for solutions to address their needs.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of ESG consultants - experts in ESG data/strategy management, as well as the configuration and implementation of Optera’s software platform. People management activities will include providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic growth areas for our SaaS solutions. This may include identifying client needs relating to current or future regulations, updated emissions reduction target methodologies, or other ESG topics. 
  • Optera Software and Services: Advise project teams on the deployment of Optera’s SaaS solution and support GHG inventory calculations, disclosure, forecasting, target setting and sustainability program management.
  • Service Delivery: Oversee the delivery of specific client deliverables, ensuring software implementations and consulting projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory developments in the field of ESG and sustainability. Share insights and expertise internally with colleagues and externally through thought leadership articles, conference presentations, and industry events.
  • Business Development: Provide limited support of business development activities with existing and prospective clients.

Your experience/qualifications 

  • Strong experience in direct people management and project team oversight
  • Extensive technical knowledge of climate strategy/carbon accounting protocols, methodologies and best practices, including, but not limited to GHG Protocol, ISO 14000, or product-level carbon footprinting
  •  Proven success in providing comprehensive client deliverables encompassing TCFD reporting, climate scenario analysis, risk assessment, and/or carbon materiality assessments
  • Strong quantitative or technical background with an excellent aptitude for analytical thinking
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to articulate issues, deliver presentations, and prepare formal written reports
  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word

Nice to Have

  • Experience in leveraging SaaS platforms to streamline ESG data collection, analysis, and reporting processes
  • Experience working with diverse industry sectors, including but not limited to ICT, retail, manufacturing, and consumer goods
  • Experience in conducting training sessions and workshops on ESG topics, such as scenario analysis,  for internal teams
  • Enthusiasm for team-building activities and fostering a positive work culture

Location: Boulder, CO preferred; Remote (US and Canada) considered 
Position: Full-time

Salary: $120,000 - $155,000USD /   $158,000 - $183,000CAD plus bonus and option for equity
