Multi-site Dermatology Group Seeks Mohs Nurse or Medical Assistant

Join our dynamic dermatology team as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Mohs micrographic surgery in Manchester, NH! This role supports clinical, surgical, and procedural care for skin cancer patients in a collaborative outpatient setting. For candidates with a strong interest in career growth, we also offer pathways to become a Mohs Team Lead or cross-train as a Histotech, expanding your impact and skills within surgical dermatology.

Position Details:

We are seeking a hard-working, energetic, and optimistic teammate to join us as a Nurse on our Mohs team! Key Responsibilities:

Surgical & Clinical Nursing Duties (including but not limited to):

  • Assist during Mohs procedures, excisions, biopsies, and closures by preparing surgical trays, sterile fields, and maintaining surgical flow.
  • Administer medications and local anesthesia (as licensed).
  • Provide wound care, suture removals, and detailed patient education for post-op recovery.
  • Monitor patient vitals and comfort before, during, and after procedures.
  • Document procedures and nursing care accurately in the EMR (ModMed EMA experience is a plus).
  • Triage patient questions, results, and follow-up care coordination.
  • Administer local anesthesia as appropriate and requested per provider

Operational & Administrative Support:

  • Maintain clinical supplies and oversee surgical room readiness and cleanliness.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control and patient safety standards.
  • Assist in organizing pre-op instructions and post-procedure education materials.
  • Assist with phone triage and consultations as directed by provider

🔹 Mohs Team Lead – Optional Advancement Role (including but not limited to):

Nurses demonstrating leadership skills may take on expanded responsibilities as Mohs Team Lead:

  • Direct daily Mohs operations and manage support staff scheduling and coverage.
  • Maintain the CLIA binder and adherence to biannual CLIA inspections.
  • Enforce OSHA safety standards and infection control protocols.
  • Oversee laboratory protocols and procedures, supporting both clinical and regulatory excellence.
  • Lead training initiatives for onboarding, workflow efficiency, and clinical competencies.
  • Collaborate with physicians and leadership on quality assurance and process improvements.
  • Support leadership with team scheduling
  • Medical supply inventory management

🔹 Histotech Cross-Training – Optional Career Path (including but not limited to):

Interested LPNs or RNs may be eligible for cross-training in Histotechnology, which includes:

  • Learning to embed, freeze, and cut tissue samples for same-day slide review by the Mohs surgeon.
  • Operating cryostat and staining equipment with high precision.
  • Preparing, labeling, and delivering microscopic slides for pathology analysis.
  • Maintaining lab standards for tissue handling, labeling, and quality control.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma from a nursing program, valid nursing license, and proven experience as a registered nurse
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with peers, physicians, and patients
  • Prior hands on laboratory experience preferred.
  • Prior dermatology experience is a plus, Mohs experience preferred
  • Prior EMR experience
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, ability to work with minimal supervision
