About the Role

Optimal Dynamics is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Frontend to join our Product Engineering team and lead the development and evolution of our customer-facing web applications. This role is focused on building high-performance, intuitive interfaces that translate complex logistics workflows into elegant, usable experiences.

As a senior-level individual contributor and frontend technical leader, you will define frontend architecture, establish best practices, and drive the development of scalable design systems. You’ll work closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver cohesive, end-to-end user experiences that balance speed, reliability, and maintainability while elevating frontend engineering standards across the organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Frontend Architecture & Development
    Design, build, and scale performant, accessible, and maintainable frontend systems using modern frameworks (React, TypeScript). Own key UI architecture decisions, including state management, component design, and application structure.
  • Design Systems & UX Excellence
    Lead the development and evolution of reusable component libraries and design systems that ensure consistency and scalability across the platform. Collaborate closely with design to deliver polished, user-centric interfaces.
  • Performance & Quality
    Optimize application performance, load times, and responsiveness. Establish best practices around testing, observability, and frontend reliability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    Partner with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless, end-to-end features. Translate complex domain requirements into intuitive UI/UX solutions.

Who You Are

  • Educated: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experienced
    • Senior level expertise in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems
    • Proven experience building and scaling complex, production-grade web applications (SPAs)
    • Deep understanding of frontend architecture, including state management, performance optimization, and component design patterns
    • Experience integrating with APIs and distributed backend systems
    • Familiarity with modern frontend tooling, testing frameworks, and CI/CD workflows
    • Experience collaborating with design teams using Figma, including interpreting design specs and contributing to design systems

Nice to Have (Bonus Points)

  • Experience mentoring engineers, driving technical decisions, and frontend excellence across teams.
  • Experience building or maintaining design systems or component libraries
  • Familiarity with data-heavy or real-time UIs (e.g., dashboards, operational tools)
  • Experience working with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka)
  • Background in logistics, transportation systems, or other complex operational domains

At Optimal Dynamics, our entire infrastructure runs on AWS, leveraging a wide range of services including DynamoDB, Aurora, SSM, and SQS to power our intelligent logistics platform.

Our tech stack includes:

  • Frontend: JavaScript/TypeScript for our web-based SPA
  • Data Stack: Trino, Dagster, dbt, DuckDB, and Preset
  • IaC: Terraform and Spacelift

We follow modern development best practices with all code stored on GitHub. Every pull request undergoes thorough code reviews, is fully unit tested, and deployed through our CI/CD pipeline for continuous quality assurance.

Pay Range

$165,000 - $195,000 USD
